# Change your workspace icon

> Upload, replace, or remove the icon that represents your workspace in the Mintlify dashboard, and learn the supported file formats and size limit.

Your workspace icon is the image that represents your workspace in the Mintlify dashboard. If no icon is set, the dashboard displays the first letter of your workspace name instead.

Changing the icon requires permission to update the workspace. Anyone with access to the workspace can view the settings page, but the icon controls are disabled without update permission. If the controls are disabled, contact an admin of your organization. See [Roles](/docs/dashboard/roles).

## Upload or replace the icon

1. Go to the [General settings](https://app.mintlify.com/settings/organization/general) page of your workspace.
2. Next to **Icon**, select **Upload**. If an icon is already set, select **Replace**.
3. Choose a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or SVG file that is 4 MB or smaller.

The dashboard shows the new icon as soon as the upload completes.

## Remove the icon

On the same [General settings](https://app.mintlify.com/settings/organization/general) page, select the **Remove workspace icon** button next to the current icon. The dashboard falls back to displaying the first letter of your workspace name.

## What your readers see

The workspace icon only appears in the dashboard. The logo displayed on your documentation site comes from the [`logo` field](/docs/organize/settings-reference#logo) in `docs.json`.
