Collections allow you to group related mods together for easy management and quick activation. Create presets for different playstyles, servers, or cosmetic themes.

Overview

Rather than manually enabling and disabling individual mods every time you want to switch between different configurations, collections let you save mod sets and activate them with a single click.
Collections are particularly useful for managing cosmetic mods, which can be mixed freely without affecting gameplay compatibility.

Creating Collections

From Selected Mods

Create a collection from mods you’ve already selected:
1

Navigate to Mods Page

Open the “Mods” tab in the Kyber Launcher
2

Select Mods

Click mods to select them. Use Shift+Click to select multiple mods at once.
3

Create Collection

Click the collection icon in the header toolbar
4

Customize

Name your collection and optionally add a custom icon
5

Save

Click save - your collection appears in the Collections panel

Empty Collection

Create a blank collection and add mods later:
  1. Click the “Create Collection” button in the Collections panel
  2. Name your new collection
  3. Add mods by dragging them or using the collection editor

From Quick Actions

Alternative methods:
  • Settings Shortcut: Click the settings icon in Mods header, select “Create Collection”
  • Admin Create: Admin users have access to advanced collection creation
  • Import Collection: Load a .kbc collection file from another user

Collection Types

Standard Collections

General-purpose mod groupings:
  • Can contain any type of mod (gameplay and cosmetic)
  • Used for server-specific mod configurations
  • Enable the entire collection at once

Cosmetic Collections

Special collections for visual-only mods:
Cosmetic collections are marked with a special flag that allows more flexible usage.
Benefits:
  • Mix with other cosmetic collections
  • Use alongside gameplay mods from servers
  • Quick switching without affecting server compatibility
  • Perfect for personalizing your appearance
How to create:
  1. Create a collection as normal
  2. Click “Edit Collection” when viewing it
  3. Toggle “Cosmetic Only” option
  4. Only add cosmetic mods (skins, visual effects, UI changes)
Don’t mark collections as “Cosmetic Only” if they contain gameplay-changing mods. This can cause server compatibility issues.

Managing Collections

Collections Panel

The right side panel on the Mods page shows your collections:
  • Grid View: Visual grid of all your collections
  • Custom Icons: Each collection can have a custom image
  • Quick Info: Mod count displayed on each collection card

Click the edit button in the collection view

Adding Mods to Collections

Several ways to add mods:
Select mods first, then create collection - selected mods are automatically added

Removing Mods from Collections

  1. Open the collection in edit mode
  2. Find the mod you want to remove
  3. Click the remove icon (X) next to the mod
  4. Save the collection
Removing a mod from a collection doesn’t delete the mod file. The mod remains in your mods library.

Deleting Collections

To delete a collection:
  1. Right-click the collection card (or use the menu button)
  2. Select “Delete Collection”
  3. Confirm the deletion
Deleting a collection only removes the collection itself, not the mods within it.

Using Collections

Activating a Collection

Enable all mods in a collection:
  • Single Click: Click the collection card to activate
  • Auto-Switch: Previous collections are deactivated (unless cosmetic-only)
  • Instant Apply: Changes take effect immediately

Collection Activation Behavior

When you activate a standard collection:
  1. All currently enabled mods are disabled
  2. All mods in the collection are enabled
  3. Collection becomes your active configuration
Perfect for switching between completely different mod loadouts.
When you activate a cosmetic collection:
  1. Gameplay mods remain enabled
  2. Other cosmetic mods may be kept or replaced (based on settings)
  3. Visual appearance changes without affecting server compatibility
Great for personalizing your look without changing gameplay mods required by servers.
You can have multiple collections active if:
  • All active collections are marked as cosmetic-only
  • The collections don’t have conflicting mods
  • Server allows cosmetic mixing

Deactivating Collections

To turn off a collection:
  • Click the collection again to toggle it off
  • Activate a different collection
  • Manually disable individual mods

Cosmetic Themes

Organize cosmetic mods by theme:

  • Immersive Audio: Sound replacements and voice lines

Content Creation

  • Cinematic: Mods that enhance visual quality for videos
  • Machinima: Custom skins and maps for storytelling
  • Photography: Best lighting and character skins for screenshots

Collection Best Practices

Use clear, descriptive names for your collections:Good:
  • “Clone Wars - 501st Legion”
  • “Realistic Graphics Pack”
  • “Community Server: Rebellion”
Avoid:
  • “Collection 1”
  • “Mods”
  • “Test”
Only mark collections as “Cosmetic Only” if they contain exclusively cosmetic mods. This ensures:
  • You can mix cosmetic collections freely
  • Server compatibility is maintained
  • No confusion about gameplay changes
Keep collections updated:
  • Remove outdated mods
  • Update mod versions when needed
  • Check compatibility after game patches
  • Clean up unused collections
Export collections you’ve spent time curating:
  • Prevents loss if you reinstall Kyber
  • Easy to share with friends
  • Can be re-imported anytime

Troubleshooting

Common causes:
  • Missing mods in the collection
  • Corrupted mod files
  • Collection file is damaged
Solution: Open the collection in edit mode, verify all mods are installed and not corrupted, remove problematic mods.
Check:
  • Mods are actually in the collection
  • No conflicting collections active
  • Mod files haven’t been deleted
Solution: Edit the collection to verify mod list, deactivate other collections, re-download missing mods.
Possible issues:
  • Corrupted KBC file
  • Wrong file format
  • Missing mod links
Solution: Re-download the KBC file, verify it’s a valid collection file, manually find and download mods if links are broken.
Common causes:
  • Image file too large
  • Unsupported format
  • Image data corrupted
Solution: Use a smaller image (under 5MB), ensure it’s PNG/JPG/WebP format, try re-uploading the icon.

Advanced Collection Management

Duplicate Detection

Kyber prevents duplicate mods in collections:
  • Automatic Checking: Adding a mod already in the collection shows a warning
  • Version Tracking: Can have same mod with different versions
  • Duplicate Dialog: Prompts you to replace or keep existing mod

Collection Metadata

Each collection stores:
  • Local ID: Unique identifier for the collection
  • Creation Date: When the collection was created
  • Last Modified: Last time the collection was edited
  • Mod Count: Number of mods in the collection
  • Total Size: Combined file size of all mods

Storage Location

Collections are stored locally:
  • Location: %APPDATA%/Kyber/collections/
  • Format: Hive database for fast access
  • Backup: Recommend exporting important collections
