Recipes are self-contained reference implementations of familiar game mechanics. Each recipe demonstrates how to combine PlayFab’s building blocks—Virtual Currency, Catalog, CloudScript, Player Data, and more—into a working end-to-end feature. Every recipe ships with:
  • A Game Manager configuration guide to set up the required PlayFab resources
  • A CloudScript file containing the authoritative server-side logic
  • A Unity 3D sample project
  • A JavaScript sample you can host on any web server

Categories

Player retention

Mechanics that encourage players to return to your game regularly.

Daily prize wheel

Give players a randomized daily gift in exchange for a Spin Ticket. Tickets regenerate automatically using PlayFab’s Virtual Currency recharge system, ensuring players can spin at most once every 24 hours while banking up to five tickets.

Progressive rewards

Reward players for logging in on consecutive days. A CloudScript handler tracks each player’s login streak and grants escalating items at 2-, 5-, and 7-day milestones.

User acquisition

Mechanics that bring new players into your game and reward both referrers and referees.

Referral codes

Let players share their unique referral code with friends. When the friend redeems the code, both the referrer and referee receive rewards. Each account can be referred only once, but a single player can refer up to ten others.

Cross-promotion

Reward players who play more than one of your titles. A shared Publisher Data record tracks which titles a player has visited, and each title can grant unique items when it detects cross-title activity.

Monetization

Mechanics that drive in-game spending and create scarcity.

Regenerating currency

A play-limiting mechanic (similar to Candy Crush lives) where a resource slowly refills over time up to a maximum value. Players can wait for regeneration or spend Gems to buy extra lives immediately.
