Best Practices for FAQ Content

Use Blockquotes for Answers

The template uses <blockquote> tags to visually distinguish answers from questions:
<h2>Question goes here?</h2>
<p>
    <blockquote>
        Answer goes here with all relevant details.
    </blockquote>
</p>
This creates visual hierarchy and makes the page scannable. Link to other pages on your site where guests can find more information:
<a href="schedule.html">Click here to take you to the schedule page</a>

Provide Multiple Contact Options

<a href="#footer">Click here to contact us via social media, email or a quick call</a>
The #footer anchor link jumps to the footer where all contact information is displayed.

Be Specific with Details

Instead of vague answers, provide concrete information:
  • Vague: “The venue has parking”
  • Specific: “Parking for 300 cars on first-come, first-served basis plus street parking”

Creating Your FAQ Page

1

Identify Common Questions

Think about questions you’ve already received or anticipate:
  • Review your event details for potential confusion points
  • Ask friends who’ve recently married what they were asked
  • Consider your specific venue’s quirks or policies
  • Think about your guest list’s needs (elderly, children, out-of-towners)
2

Organize by Category

Group related questions together:
<section>
    <h2>Logistics</h2>
    <h3>How do I get to the venue?</h3>
    <!-- Answer -->

    <h3>Where should guests park?</h3>
    <!-- Answer -->
</section>

<section>
    <h2>What to Expect</h2>
    <h3>What time should I arrive?</h3>
    <!-- Answer -->

    <h3>How long is the ceremony?</h3>
    <!-- Answer -->
</section>
3

Write Clear, Complete Answers

Each answer should:
  • Directly address the question
  • Provide specific details (numbers, times, locations)
  • Link to relevant pages for more information
  • Offer alternative options when applicable
Write answers as if you’re explaining to someone who’s never been to a wedding like yours before. Don’t assume cultural or local knowledge.
4

Add Cross-Links

Link to other pages where guests can find related information:
For more details, see our
<a href="schedule.html">schedule page</a> or
<a href="travel_and_accommodation.html">travel information</a>.

Template Formatting

The template uses consistent formatting for each question-answer pair:
<h2>Question Title Here?</h2>
<p>
    <blockquote>
        <b>Brief answer or key point in bold.</b><br />
        Additional details and context here. Can include multiple
        paragraphs, links, and formatting.
    </blockquote>
</p>

Formatting Options

<blockquote>
    <b>Hot with a good chance of rain.</b><br />
    Channel your chi by bringing airy, tropics-friendly clothes.
</blockquote>

Questions to Consider Adding

Depending on your wedding, you might want to add:

Children Policy

<h2>Are children welcome at the wedding?</h2>
<p>
    <blockquote>
        We love your little ones, but this will be an adults-only celebration.
        We hope this gives you a chance to enjoy a kid-free evening!
    </blockquote>
</p>

Gift Registry

<h2>Do you have a gift registry?</h2>
<p>
    <blockquote>
        Your presence is the greatest gift! If you wish to give something,
        we have registries at [Store Name]. Links are available on our
        <a href="registry.html">registry page</a>.
    </blockquote>
</p>

Photography Policy

<h2>Can I take photos during the ceremony?</h2>
<p>
    <blockquote>
        We ask that guests refrain from taking photos during the ceremony
        so our professional photographer can capture the best moments.
        Please feel free to take photos during the reception!
    </blockquote>
</p>

Plus-One Policy

<h2>Can I bring a date?</h2>
<p>
    <blockquote>
        Due to space limitations, we're only able to accommodate guests
        specifically named on your invitation. If your invitation says
        "and guest," you're welcome to bring a plus-one!
    </blockquote>
</p>

Dietary Restrictions

<h2>I have dietary restrictions. Will there be options for me?</h2>
<p>
    <blockquote>
        Please note any dietary restrictions when you RSVP. We'll work
        with our caterer to accommodate vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free,
        and allergy needs.
    </blockquote>
</p>

Mobile Optimization

The FAQ page is mobile-friendly by default:
  • Questions use responsive heading sizes
  • Blockquotes have appropriate padding on small screens
  • Links are large enough to tap on mobile
  • Page scrolls smoothly to anchor links
Test your FAQ page on mobile devices to ensure all links work and text is readable.

Linking to FAQ from Other Pages

Reference the FAQ page throughout your site:
<!-- From index.html -->
<li><a href="pages/faqs.html" class="button fit">FAQs</a></li>

<!-- From footer on any page -->
For more information, see our <a href="faqs.html">FAQs page</a>.

Updating FAQs

Keep your FAQ page updated as you:
  • Receive new questions from guests
  • Make changes to wedding plans
  • Add or modify venue policies
  • Update COVID or health protocols
Set a reminder to review and update your FAQ:
  • When you send invitations
  • One month before the wedding
  • One week before the wedding (for last-minute details)

Analytics and Tracking

After your wedding, review which questions guests asked most:
  • Check Google Forms responses for patterns
  • Note which questions came up in conversations
  • Use website analytics to see which FAQ answers were most viewed
This helps you refine the FAQ for maximum usefulness.
The questions guests ask most frequently should be moved to the top of your FAQ or even highlighted on your homepage.
