The device utilities screen provides tools for managing your connected iOS device. Access it by clicking Utilities on the main screen.

Device information

When you open utilities with a device connected, you’ll see:
  • Device name: The name set on your iOS device
  • UDID: Universal Device Identifier for your device
macOS devices cannot be used with device utilities. Only iOS devices are supported.

Pairing and trust

Trust device

Establish a pairing relationship with your device:
1

Click Trust Device

Press the Trust Device button on the utilities screen.
2

Wait for pairing

The button changes to “Pairing…” while the operation completes. This process:
  • Establishes a trusted connection
  • Allows app installation and file access
  • Must be done on first connection
3

Check the result

  • Success: Green message confirms “Device paired successfully!”
  • Error: Red message displays the error details
You typically only need to trust a device once. However, if you see pairing errors during installation, try running Trust Device again.

View installed apps

Refresh and view the list of developer-signed apps on your device.

Refresh app list

1

Click Refresh Installed Apps

Press the Refresh Installed Apps button. It shows “Loading…” during the operation.
2

Wait for app discovery

The system queries your device for all apps with developer signatures.
3

View results

Installed apps appear in a scrollable list showing:
  • App name and bundle identifier
  • Install Pairing button for each app

App list behavior

  • Only shows apps with developer certificates/provisioning profiles
  • Does not include App Store apps
  • List persists until you refresh or change devices
  • Empty list means no developer apps are installed
The app list only includes applications installed with developer signatures (like those installed via Impactor). System apps and App Store apps are not shown.

Install pairing files

Pairing files enable apps to access device-pairing certificates for certain operations.

What are pairing files?

A pairing file allows an app to:
  • Maintain persistent pairing with your device
  • Access pairing certificates even after expiration
  • Communicate with device services

Installation process

1

Refresh installed apps

Click Refresh Installed Apps to populate the app list.
2

Select an app

Find the app you want to install a pairing file for in the list.
3

Click Install Pairing

Press the Install Pairing button next to the app name.
4

Check status

A status message appears below the app entry:
  • Green: “Pairing file installed successfully!”
  • Red: Error message with failure details

When to use pairing files

Install pairing files when:
  • An app requires device pairing for functionality
  • You’re developing tools that interact with device services
  • An app displays pairing-related errors
Not all apps need pairing files. Only install them when specifically required by the app or for development purposes.

Status messages

The utilities screen uses color-coded status messages:
  • Green text: Successful operations
  • Red text: Errors and failures
  • Gray text: No device connected or neutral information
