What is Buildstory?

Buildstory is a community platform built on a simple thesis: “What have you built?” is the ultimate signal of credibility in a landscape full of noise. In the age of AI, anyone can talk about what’s possible. But the real builders—those who ship, iterate, and share their work—deserve a place to stand out. Buildstory is that place.
Buildstory combines project showcases, automated build logs, hackathons, and a reputation system where verified building experience earns authority.

Core Features

Project Showcases

Share your AI projects with the community. Link GitHub repos for automated build logs and showcase your work with rich project pages.

Hackathons

Participate in structured building events like Hackathon 00. Build something real in a week and connect with builders worldwide.

Build in Public

Projects are tagged with the tools used to build them. Those tags become permanent discussion threads—so conversations are anchored to real usage, not speculation.

Reputation System

Earn authority through verified building experience. Your portfolio of shipped projects speaks louder than any bio.

Show, Don’t Tell

Buildstory is designed around a few core principles:
  • Verifiable work over marketing claims — GitHub integration and build logs prove you’re actually building
  • Zero-friction capture — Automated build logs after initial setup mean less manual updates
  • Projects are first-class — Your projects can exist independently or be linked to specific events
  • Inclusive by default — Designed for builders at every experience level, from first project to seasoned maker

Who is Buildstory for?

Whether you’re:
  • Shipping your first AI project and want to document the journey
  • Building in public and need a home for your work
  • Participating in hackathons to learn and connect
  • Looking for collaborators on your next big idea
Buildstory gives you the tools to showcase your work and build credibility through what matters most: the things you’ve actually built.

Platform Stats

Buildstory launched with Hackathon 00 (March 1–8, 2026), a 7-day AI building event. Everything in v1 is built to serve this inaugural event while being architected to grow beyond it.
The platform is built with Next.js 16, Clerk authentication, Neon Postgres, and Drizzle ORM. It’s deployed on Vercel and designed for scale.

Open Source

Buildstory is open source and built in public. We practice what we preach—shipping iteratively, sharing our process, and building with the community. Ready to start building? Head to the Quickstart to create your account and ship your first project.
