Sistema Financiero uses categories to help you organize and analyze your transactions. Categories are automatically applied when you register transactions through any method (manual entry, AI chat, Excel import, or receipt scanning).

How to Use Categories

Manual Transaction Entry

When registering a transaction manually, select the appropriate category from the dropdown menu:
  1. Navigate to Registro page
  2. Choose transaction type (Gasto or Ingreso)
  3. Select the category that best matches your transaction
  4. Complete the remaining fields and submit
The category dropdown automatically updates based on whether you’re registering an expense or income.

AI Chat Assistant

When using the AI chat to register transactions, simply mention the category in natural language:
  • “Register a $50 expense for Alimentación”
  • “Add income of $1500 from Tours with 20 passengers”
  • “Record $200 Transporte expense for gasoline”
The AI will automatically recognize and apply the correct category.

Excel/CSV Import

When importing transactions from Excel, include the category name in the categoria column: 
fecha,tipo,categoria,monto,descripcion
2025-10-06,gasto,Alimentación,350,Restaurant dinner
2025-10-06,ingreso,Tours,1200,Morning group tour
Make sure category names match exactly (including accents) to ensure proper classification.

Receipt Scanning

When you upload a receipt photo, the AI automatically suggests a category based on the receipt content. You can accept the suggestion or change it before saving.

Viewing by Category

You can analyze your spending and income patterns by category:
  • Dashboard: View category breakdowns in the analytics section
  • Reports: Generate detailed reports grouped by category
  • Data Views: Sort and filter transactions by category to see specific spending patterns
Regularly reviewing your category breakdown helps identify spending trends and opportunities for savings.
