Translation Process
To create a foreign language translation, follow these steps:Fork the Repository
Fork the You Don’t Know JS Yet repository to your own GitHub account.
Create Your Translation
Make your translation entirely in your fork. Preferably translate all six books, but at a minimum complete one whole book before proceeding.
Request a Branch
File an issue asking for a branch to be made on the main repo, named for your language’s ISO code.
Submit a Pull Request
Once the branch is created, you can submit a PR to merge your translated work into the dedicated language branch.
Reading Experience
Many readers have requested improvements to the reading experience, such as:- Chapter and section cross-links
- Enhanced navigation features
- Interactive elements
Why We Don’t Accept These Changes
The main purpose of the book repository is to track and manage content for publication (paid-for ebooks and print books). The repository is maintained in the open to provide free and early access to the content, ensuring there is no paywall barrier to learning. This repository is not optimized for your reading experience. The intended best reading experience is through the published books (either ebook or print).
Editions
The current (and final) edition of the books is the 2nd edition. The book series has been in development for over 12 years and is now complete. While we appreciate the community’s enthusiasm, the series is closed to further content contributions, including:- Typo fixes
- Content updates
- Additional examples
- Restructuring suggestions
