Open Source Citizenship
This Code of Conduct aims to increase open source citizenship by encouraging participants to recognize and strengthen the relationships between our actions and their effects on our community.If you see someone making an extra effort to ensure our community is welcoming, friendly, and encourages all participants to contribute to the fullest extent, we want to know!
Expected Behavior
All community members are expected to:Participate Authentically
Engage actively and authentically to contribute to the health and longevity of the community
Exercise Consideration
Show consideration and respect in your speech and actions toward all community members
Collaborate First
Attempt collaboration before conflict and provide helpful contributions to encourage progress
Be Respectful
Respect differing viewpoints and experiences, and gracefully accept constructive criticism
Additional Expectations
- Respect priorities: Understand the need to prioritize issues based on NV Access, user, and community priority
- Protect privacy: GitHub is a public forum - refrain from publishing personal or sensitive information (yours or others’). Carefully consider the contents of debug logs before publishing
- Refrain from harmful behavior: No demeaning, discriminatory, or harassing behavior and speech
- Be mindful: Alert NV Access staff if you notice violations of this Code of Conduct, even if they seem inconsequential
Unacceptable Behavior
The following behaviors are considered harassment and are unacceptable:Consequences of Unacceptable Behavior
Unacceptable behavior from any community member, including sponsors and those with decision-making authority, will not be tolerated.Immediate compliance expected
Anyone asked to stop unacceptable behavior is expected to comply immediately
NV Access may take action
NV Access staff may take any action deemed appropriate, up to and including temporary ban or permanent expulsion without warning

- Community member responsible

Confidentiality: The details of the reporter will not be disclosed, unless required by law.
Addressing Grievances
If you feel you have been falsely or unfairly accused of violating this Code of Conduct:Submit a Grievance

Scope
This Code of Conduct applies to:- All community participants (contributors, paid or otherwise; sponsors; and other guests)
- All community venues (online and in-person)
- All one-on-one communications pertaining to community business
- Unacceptable behavior occurring outside the scope of community activities when such behavior has the potential to adversely affect the safety and well-being of community members
For those setting up or running an NVDA group of any kind, it is strongly recommended that a complementary Code of Conduct be adopted.
