After a contract is completed, clients can leave a star rating and written review for the freelancer they worked with. Reviews appear publicly on the freelancer’s profile and contribute to their reputation on the platform.

Review eligibility

Only clients can leave reviews, and only for freelancers they have worked with on a completed contract. This means:
  • The contract must have a status of Completed.
  • The review is tied to the specific contract, client, and freelancer.
  • Each completed contract can have one review.
Freelancers cannot leave reviews for clients. Reviews flow in one direction: client → freelancer.

Leaving a review

1

Navigate to the completed contract

Open your Contracts dashboard and find the contract with a status of Completed.
2

Click 'Leave a review'

On the contract detail page, click the Leave a review button. This option only appears on completed contracts.
3

Select a star rating

Choose a rating from 1 to 5 stars, where 1 is the lowest and 5 is the highest.
4

Write your review

Enter a written description of your experience working with the freelancer. Be specific about the quality of work, communication, and professionalism.
5

Submit the review

Click Submit. The review is published to the freelancer’s profile immediately.
Detailed, honest reviews help other clients make better hiring decisions and help skilled freelancers stand out. Aim to mention specific aspects of the work and how the freelancer communicated throughout the contract.

Where reviews appear

Reviews are displayed on the freelancer’s public profile page, visible to any client browsing the platform. Each review shows:
  • The star rating (1–5)
  • The written description
  • The date the review was posted
Clients browsing freelancer profiles or reviewing applicants for a job can read all past reviews before making a hiring decision.

How reviews affect freelancers

Reviews have a direct impact on a freelancer’s visibility and credibility:
  • Reputation: A strong collection of high ratings signals trustworthiness and quality to prospective clients.
  • Profile strength: Freelancers with more reviews and higher average ratings are more competitive when applying to jobs.
  • Client confidence: Clients can filter or assess freelancers based on their review history, making reviews one of the most influential factors in the hiring process.
Reviews are permanent once submitted and cannot be edited or deleted by the client or freelancer. If you believe a review violates platform guidelines, contact Skillhouse support.
