Find Your First Movie Showtime

This guide will walk you through using Showtimes NG to find a movie, view showtimes across Lagos cinemas, and book your tickets.

Browse Current Movies

Visit the Showtimes NG homepage to see all movies currently showing in Lagos.The homepage displays a grid of movie posters with key information:
  • Movie title
  • Duration (e.g., “2h 15m”)
  • Ratings from IMDb, Metacritic, and Rotten Tomatoes
Movies are sorted by their earliest available showtime, so you’ll see films starting soonest at the top.
Click on any movie poster to view detailed information and available showtimes.

View Movie Details

On the movie page, you’ll find:
  • Poster and Synopsis: Large movie poster with full description
  • Release Information: Year, runtime, and ratings
  • Multiple Ratings: See scores from IMDb, Metacritic, and Rotten Tomatoes at a glance

Scroll down to the “Showtimes” section to see when and where the movie is playing.

Select a Date

Use the interactive date picker to choose when you want to watch the movie.The date picker shows:
  • Day of week (e.g., “MON”, “TUE”)
  • Date number (e.g., “15”)
  • Month (e.g., “MAR”)
The current or nearest available date is selected by default. Click any date button to see showtimes for that day.
Dates are displayed horizontally and you can scroll to see more options in the coming days.

Choose a Cinema

After selecting a date, you’ll see showtimes organized by cinema.Each cinema listing shows:
  • Cinema name (e.g., “Filmhouse IMAX Lekki”)
  • Location (e.g., “Admiralty Way, Lekki Phase 1”)
  • Available showtimes displayed as clickable buttons
  • Screen type indicators (e.g., “3D”, “IMAX”)

Click on the cinema name to see all movies currently showing at that location.

Book Your Tickets

Click on any showtime button to be directed to the cinema’s official booking page.
Ticket booking is completed on the cinema’s website. Showtimes NG provides direct links to make the process seamless.
When you click a showtime:
  1. A new tab opens to the cinema’s booking page
  2. The specific movie and showtime are pre-selected
  3. Complete your purchase on the cinema’s secure checkout
Different screen types (2D, 3D, IMAX) are clearly indicated, so you know exactly what format you’re booking.

If you prefer to browse by location rather than movie:

Visit the Cinemas Directory

Navigate to the “Cinemas” section to see all cinema locations across Lagos.Each cinema card displays:
  • Cinema name
  • Location or area (e.g., “Victoria Island”, “Lekki”, “Ikeja”)
Cinemas are listed alphabetically for easy browsing.

Select a Cinema

Click on any cinema to view:
  • Full address details
  • All movies currently showing at that location
  • Available showtimes organized by date
This is useful when you:
  • Already know which cinema you want to visit
  • Want to see what’s playing nearby
  • Are comparing multiple locations in the same area

Choose Your Movie

Browse the movies showing at your selected cinema.Showtimes are grouped by movie, showing:
  • Movie title (clickable to view full details)
  • All available times for your selected date
  • Screen type options
Click any showtime to book your tickets.

Screen Types

Showtimes NG displays different screen formats:
  • 2D: Standard digital screening (default, not always labeled)
  • 3D: Three-dimensional format requiring 3D glasses
  • IMAX: Large-format premium screens with enhanced audio
  • 4DX: Motion seats with environmental effects (where available)
Screen type indicators appear next to showtime buttons when the format is not standard 2D.

If your preferred showtime is sold out or inconvenient, use the date picker to explore other days. Weekend showtimes often have more options.
View the same movie across different cinemas by checking the full showtime list. Some locations may have more convenient times or preferred formats.
Use the IMDb, Metacritic, and Rotten Tomatoes scores on movie cards to help decide what to watch. Higher scores generally indicate better-received films.
For popular movies or prime showtimes (evenings and weekends), consider booking in advance as seats fill up quickly.
