Chronos Calendar makes it easy to create and manage events across all your Google Calendars with a streamlined, intuitive interface.

Creating a New Event

There are multiple ways to create events in Chronos Calendar:

Creating from Calendar View

1

Click a Date/Time

Click on any date or time slot in your calendar view. This automatically opens the event creation modal with the selected date and time pre-filled.
2

Add Event Details

The event modal opens with focus on the title field. Start typing your event name immediately.
3

Configure Time and Details

Adjust the time, add a description, location, and other details as needed (see sections below).
4

Create the Event

Click the “Create event” button or press Enter to save the event to your calendar.
The event modal appears with a smooth animation at the bottom-center of your screen, making it easy to reference the calendar while creating events.

Event Modal Interface

The event creation modal provides a clean, organized interface for all event details:

Title and Description

At the top of the modal:
  • Title field - Enter your event name (e.g., “Team Meeting”)
  • Description field - Add optional details, notes, or agenda items
  • Press Tab to move between fields
  • The title field is automatically focused when the modal opens
Event titles are required. You’ll see a validation error if you try to save an event without a title.

Time Settings

The time section (marked with a clock icon) allows you to set when your event occurs:

Timed Events

1

Set Start Time

Use the start time picker to select when your event begins. The time is displayed in 24-hour or 12-hour format based on your system settings.
2

Set End Time

Use the end time picker to select when your event ends. Chronos Calendar defaults to a 1-hour duration.
3

Select Dates

Use the date pickers below the time inputs to set the start and end dates. Events can span multiple days.

All-Day Events

1

Toggle All-Day Mode

Click the “All day” toggle switch on the right side of the time section.
2

Select Date Range

When all-day mode is enabled:
  • Time pickers are hidden
  • Only date pickers are shown
  • The event will last the entire day(s) selected
3

Spanning Multiple Days

Select different start and end dates to create multi-day all-day events (e.g., vacations, conferences).
Press the All-day toggle quickly to convert between timed and all-day events. Your date selections are preserved during the conversion.

Location

Add a physical or virtual location to your event:
  • Click the location field (marked with a pin icon)
  • Type any location text:
    • Physical addresses (“123 Main St, New York, NY”)
    • Room names (“Conference Room B”)
    • Virtual meeting links (“https://zoom.us/j/123456”)
  • The location appears in the event details and is synced to Google Calendar

Guest Management

The guests field allows you to invite attendees:
  • Enter email addresses of people you want to invite
  • Multiple guests can be separated by commas
  • Guests receive calendar invitations via Google Calendar
  • Guest responses sync back from Google Calendar
Currently, Chronos Calendar displays the guest input field. Full guest management features including seeing responses and managing attendee lists are planned for future updates.

Event Properties

Event Colors

Personalize events with colors:
  • Click the colored circle in the bottom-left of the modal
  • Select from available event colors
  • Colors appear as a border on your event in the calendar view
  • Event colors are independent of calendar colors
Event colors are synced to Google Calendar and will appear in both Chronos Calendar and Google’s apps.

Recurrence

The recurrence section shows “Does not repeat” by default:
  • Recurring events are displayed from Google Calendar
  • Direct creation of recurring events in Chronos is planned for future releases
  • For now, create recurring events in Google Calendar and they’ll sync to Chronos

Availability Status

The “Busy” indicator shows your availability:
  • Busy (default) - Marks time as unavailable in your calendar
  • Status affects how others see your availability when scheduling meetings
  • This setting syncs to Google Calendar
The availability status is displayed as an orange “Busy” badge in the current version.

Editing Events

Edit any event by clicking on it in your calendar view:
1

Click the Event

Click on any event in your calendar to open it in the event modal.
2

Modify Details

Make changes to any field:
  • Update the title or description
  • Change the time or date
  • Modify the location
  • Adjust the event color
  • Toggle all-day mode on or off
3

Save Changes

Click “Update event” to save your changes. The button is only enabled when you’ve made modifications.
The “Update event” button appears grayed out until you make changes. This prevents accidental empty updates.

Quick Edits

For fast adjustments:
  • Drag events to different dates/times in calendar view (drag-and-drop editing)
  • Resize events by dragging their edges to change duration
  • All changes sync immediately to Google Calendar

Deleting Events

Remove events you no longer need:
1

Open the Event

Click on the event you want to delete to open the event modal.
2

Click 'Delete event'

In the bottom-right corner of the modal, click the red “Delete event” button.
3

Confirm Deletion

A confirmation prompt appears:
  • “Delete?” message is displayed
  • Click “Yes” to confirm deletion
  • Click “No” to cancel
4

Event Removed

The event is immediately deleted from both Chronos Calendar and Google Calendar.
Deleting an event is permanent and cannot be undone. The event is removed from your Google Calendar as well. If you invited guests, they’ll be notified of the cancellation.

Keyboard Shortcuts

Speed up event management with keyboard shortcuts:
ShortcutAction
EscClose the event modal
EnterSave the event (when not in textarea)
TabMove to the next field
When typing in the description textarea, press Enter to create a new line instead of saving the event.

Selecting the Right Calendar

When creating a new event, Chronos Calendar automatically selects a calendar:
  1. First visible calendar - If you have calendars shown in your view, the first visible calendar is selected
  2. First available calendar - If no calendars are visible, the first calendar from any account is used
  3. Primary calendar - Often defaults to your primary Google Calendar
In the current version, the calendar selector is automatic. Future updates will allow you to manually choose which calendar to create events in.

Event Modal Behavior

Opening the Modal

  • Smooth slide-up animation from the bottom
  • Title field is automatically focused
  • Calendar view remains visible in the background
  • Modal appears centered at the bottom of the screen

Closing the Modal

Multiple ways to close the event modal:
  • Click the X button in the top-right corner
  • Press the Escape key
  • Click outside the modal (on the darkened background)
  • Save or delete the event
The modal has a gentle slide-down animation when closing, providing smooth visual feedback.

Best Practices

Use Descriptive Titles

Create clear, concise event titles that make sense at a glance. Include key information like meeting topics or event types.

Add Locations

Always include location information, especially for in-person meetings. Add virtual meeting links for remote events.

Set Accurate Times

Double-check start and end times before creating events. Include buffer time for travel or preparation when needed.

Use All-Day for Full-Day Events

Use all-day events for holidays, vacations, and deadlines rather than timed events spanning 24 hours.

Add Descriptions

Use the description field for agendas, notes, or important details that don’t fit in the title.

Color Code Events

Use consistent colors for event types (e.g., blue for meetings, green for personal events) to quickly scan your calendar.

Troubleshooting

Event Not Saving

Events require a title. Make sure you’ve entered text in the title field before clicking “Create event”.
Ensure the end time is after the start time. Chronos Calendar validates time ranges before saving.
Check your internet connection. Events cannot be saved without connectivity to Google Calendar’s servers.
If events aren’t saving, check if the target calendar needs reauthorization (look for the ⚠️ icon in the calendar visibility panel).

Event Not Appearing

  1. Check Calendar Visibility - Ensure the calendar containing the event is visible in the visibility panel
  2. Verify Date Range - Make sure you’re viewing the correct date range in calendar view
  3. Check Filters - Confirm no filters are hiding the event
  4. Refresh the Page - Force a sync by refreshing your browser

Time Zone Issues

All events respect your calendar’s time zone settings:
  • Events are created in the calendar’s default time zone
  • Times display in your local time zone
  • Time zones are synced from Google Calendar settings
If you travel across time zones, be aware that event times may display differently. Check your system time zone settings and Google Calendar time zone preferences.

Advanced Features

Multi-Day Events

Create events spanning multiple days:
  • Set the start date and end date to different days
  • Works for both timed and all-day events
  • Multi-day timed events show the full duration in calendar view
  • Multi-day all-day events appear as a continuous bar across the calendar

Event Validation

Chronos Calendar validates events before saving:
  • ✅ Title must not be empty
  • ✅ End time must be after start time
  • ✅ Dates must be valid
  • ✅ All-day events must have at least one full day
Validation errors appear inline in the modal, preventing invalid events from being created.

Coming Soon

Features planned for future releases:
  • Manual calendar selection when creating events
  • Full recurring event creation and editing
  • Complete guest management with response tracking
  • Event reminders and notifications configuration
  • Drag-and-drop event rescheduling
  • Event templates for common meeting types
