What is a project?

A project in Toots represents a body of work that the AI helps you break down into actionable tickets. Projects can be anything—product launches, marketing campaigns, events, process improvements, HR initiatives, or software features. Each project includes:
  • A name and description
  • AI-generated tickets organized on a Kanban board
  • A chat interface to refine scope and modify tickets
  • Persistent storage of all tickets and changes

Creating a new project

1

Start a new project

Click the New Project button in the sidebar or navigate to the projects page.
2

Provide project details

Enter a project name and initial description. This description helps the AI understand what you’re trying to build.
Be specific about your goals, timeline, and constraints. The more context you provide, the better the AI can generate relevant tickets.
3

Answer clarifying questions

The AI will ask 2-4 clarifying questions to better understand your project. These questions are tailored to your project type and may include:
  • Who is the target audience?
  • What are the key deliverables?
  • Are there any technical constraints or dependencies?
  • What’s the timeline or deadline?
You can provide free-form answers or select from multiple-choice options when presented.
4

Review generated tickets

Once the AI has enough context, it generates 5-10 tickets that break down your project into actionable work items. Each ticket includes:
  • Title and description
  • Type (Story, Task, Epic, Milestone, or Deliverable)
  • Priority (P0, P1, P2, or P3)
  • Estimated effort (XS, S, M, L, or XL)
  • Acceptance criteria
  • Dependencies on other tickets
  • Relevant labels
All tickets start in the “To Do” column on your Kanban board.
