Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have:

Installed LiquidLauncher

Follow the installation guide to download and install LiquidLauncher for your operating system.

System Requirements Met

Ensure you have at least 4 GB of RAM (8 GB recommended) and 2 GB of free disk space.

First Launch Walkthrough

This guide will take you from first launch to playing Minecraft with LiquidBounce in under 5 minutes.

Step 1: Launch LiquidLauncher

Open LiquidLauncher from your applications menu or desktop shortcut. On first launch:

Loading Screen

The launcher will:
  • Load configuration settings
  • Check for launcher updates
  • Connect to the LiquidBounce API
  • Verify system compatibility

Update Check

If an update is available, you’ll be prompted:
“A Launcher update is available. Would you like to install it now?”
It’s recommended to install updates before proceeding.

Step 2: Account Setup

After the launcher loads, you’ll see the Login Screen. You have two options:

Step 3: Main Screen Overview

Once logged in, you’ll see the main launcher interface: LiquidLauncher Main Screen Key areas:
  • Account Info (top right): Shows your username and account type. Click the gear icon to open settings.
  • Version Selector: Display current LiquidBounce version and Minecraft version
  • Launch Button: Large button to start the game (turns to Terminate while running)
  • News Area: Latest updates and announcements from LiquidBounce

Step 4: Select a LiquidBounce Build

Before launching, you can choose which version of LiquidBounce to use:

Open Version Selector

Click the version card or version button in the launch area to open the version selection menu.

Choose a Branch

Select from available branches:

Select a Build

Each branch has multiple builds available:
  • Latest Build (recommended): Automatic selection of the newest release
  • Specific Build: Choose a particular version by date and build number
The launcher defaults to the latest build of the recommended branch. You can change this anytime.

View Changelog

Before confirming, you can view:
  • Build date and version number
  • Minecraft version compatibility
  • Changelog with recent changes

Confirm Selection

Click Done or close the version selector to save your choice.

Step 5: Configure Game Settings (Optional)

Before your first launch, you may want to adjust settings:

Open Settings

Click the gear icon next to your account name in the top right.

Adjust Memory Allocation

Navigate to General tab:
  • Memory: Allocate RAM for Minecraft (default: 2048 MB)
    • Recommended: 4096 MB (4 GB) for best performance
    • Maximum: Use up to 80% of your system RAM
Allocating less than 4 GB may cause performance issues. You’ll receive a warning if you try to launch with low memory.

Configure Java Runtime (Optional)

Choose how Java is managed:
  • Automatic (recommended): LiquidLauncher downloads and manages Java
  • Manual: Choose from Eclipse Temurin, GraalVM, or Azul Zulu
  • Custom: Specify your own Java installation path
Most users should use Automatic mode. The launcher will download the correct Java version for your selected Minecraft version.

Set Data Location (Optional)

By default, game files are stored in:
  • Windows: %APPDATA%\LiquidLauncher
  • macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/LiquidLauncher
  • Linux: ~/.local/share/LiquidLauncher
You can change this in SettingsGeneralData Location.

Save Settings

Close the settings panel - your preferences are saved automatically.

Step 6: Launch the Game

You’re ready to play!

Click Launch

Click the large Launch button in the center of the screen.

First Run Warning

On your very first launch, you’ll see a warning dialog:
This is a first-time setup notice. Click Continue to proceed.
This only appears once to confirm you’re ready to start.

Authentication & Download

The launcher will now:
  1. Authenticate your Minecraft account (if using Microsoft)
  2. Download Java runtime if not already installed
  3. Download Minecraft files for the selected version
  4. Download LiquidBounce client for the selected build
  5. Prepare game files and mods
Watch the progress bar at the top of the screen. The first launch takes longer due to downloads.

Game Starts

Once preparation is complete, Minecraft will launch with LiquidBounce installed!The launcher will:
  • Show a Terminate button (to stop the game)
  • Display Client Log option to view game output
  • Continue running in the background (unless you disable this in settings)

Step 7: Managing the Running Game

While your game is running:

View Logs

Click Show Client Log to view Minecraft’s console output. Useful for debugging issues.

Terminate Game

Click Terminate to force-close Minecraft if it becomes unresponsive.
The launcher keeps track of the game process. When you close Minecraft normally, the launcher will detect this and reset the Launch button.

Troubleshooting First Launch

If the game fails to start:
  1. Check the Client Log: Click Show Client Log to see error messages
  2. Verify Memory: Ensure you allocated at least 2048 MB in settings
  3. Check Internet: Some files need to be downloaded on first launch
  4. Try Again: Click Launch again - temporary network issues can cause failures
If Microsoft authentication fails:
  1. Check Account: Ensure you own Minecraft: Java Edition
  2. Browser Issues: Try opening the link in a different browser
  3. Firewall: Check if your firewall is blocking the authentication
  4. Fallback: Use Offline login as a temporary alternative
If Microsoft login continues to fail, you can log in through the client’s built-in account manager after launching in offline mode.
If downloads are taking too long:
  1. Check Connection: Verify your internet connection is stable
  2. Concurrent Downloads: Increase this in SettingsGeneral (default: 8, max: 50)
  3. Retry: Close and relaunch the launcher
  4. CDN Issues: The LiquidBounce API may be experiencing high traffic
If automatic Java installation fails:
  1. Check Disk Space: Ensure you have at least 500 MB free
  2. Manual Mode: Switch to Manual Java distribution in settings
  3. Custom Java: Install Java 17+ manually and use Custom mode
  4. Permissions: Make sure the launcher has write access to its data directory
If you see a memory warning:
“You are about to launch the client with less than 4096 MB of memory. This may cause performance issues.”
  • Click Continue to launch anyway (not recommended)
  • Or click Cancel and increase memory allocation in settings
