Welcome to RALQ

RALQ (Reality Augmented Learning for Chemistry) is an educational platform that helps you learn chemistry through interactive 3D visualizations and augmented reality. This guide will walk you through your first steps with the platform.
RALQ works best on mobile devices for AR features, but you can access 3D visualizations from any device with a modern web browser.

Getting Started

1

Create Your Account

Navigate to the registration page at registro.php:
  1. Fill in your personal information:
    • First name (Nombre)
    • Paternal surname (Apellido Paterno)
    • Maternal surname (Apellido Materno)
    • Email address (Correo)
    • Password (Contraseña)
    • Confirm password
  2. Click the “Listo” button to submit
Make sure your passwords match and use a valid email address. All fields are required.
Once registered, your account is stored in the registro_RALQ database and you can log in immediately.
2

Access the login page at iniciosesion.php:
  1. Enter your email address
  2. Enter your password
  3. Click “Entrar” to sign in
After successful authentication, you’ll be redirected to the main menu.
3

Explore the Main Menu

The main menu (menu.php) provides access to three main learning areas:

Molecular Structures

Explore 3D models of common chemical compounds like water, caffeine, and glycerol

Laboratory Instruments

Learn about lab equipment through interactive 3D visualizations

Periodic Table

Browse chemical elements with detailed information
Additional features:
  • Virtual Lab Tour: Watch a guided video tour of laboratory environments
  • Self-Assessment: Test your knowledge with interactive quizzes
  • Lab Equipment Games: Practice identifying instruments through games

View Your First 3D Molecule

Let’s explore a 3D molecular structure:
  1. Click on “Estructuras Moleculares” from the main menu
  2. You’ll see a gallery of molecules including:
    • Water (H₂O)
    • Caffeine (C₈H₁₀N₄O₂)
    • Benzyl alcohol (C₈H₁₀O)
    • Phenol (C₆H₅OH)
    • Glycerol (C₃H₈O₃)
    • Propane (C₃H₈)
  3. Each molecule card displays:
    • An interactive 3D model that auto-rotates
    • Chemical formula
    • AR viewing button
  4. Interact with the model:
    • Click and drag to rotate the molecule
    • Pinch to zoom in/out
    • Click the “i” button for detailed information (molecular weight, state, formula)

Try AR Mode on Mobile

To experience augmented reality:
  1. Open RALQ on a mobile device (smartphone or tablet)
  2. Navigate to any molecule page
  3. Click “Ver en Realidad Aumentada” (View in Augmented Reality)
  4. Grant camera permissions when prompted
  5. Point your camera at a flat surface
  6. The molecule will appear in your real-world environment!
AR features require:
  • A mobile device with ARCore (Android) or ARKit (iOS)
  • Camera permissions
  • Good lighting conditions
  • A flat surface for placing the model

Available AR Molecules

Each molecule has a unique AR experience link:
  • Water: View the simple H₂O structure in your space
  • Caffeine: Explore this complex stimulant molecule
  • Benzyl Alcohol: See the benzene ring structure
  • Phenol: Understand aromatic compounds
  • Glycerol: Visualize this three-carbon compound
  • Propane: Examine simple alkane structures
