Overview
Bay assignment is the core workflow in Dashboard Backus. This guide explains how to assign trucks to bays using drag-and-drop, understand validation rules, and handle special cases.Bay assignment is only available to Admin users. Client users have view-only access.
Bay Configuration
Dashboard Backus manages 10 bays across the Backus yard:| Bay ID | Name | Location | Specialization |

Assigning Trucks to Bays
Identify Truck in Queue
Review the truck queue at the bottom of the screen. Each truck card displays:
- Plate number (e.g., “BFW-234”)
- Truck type (Parihuelero, Jumbo, Bi-tren, Tolva, Otros)
- Operation (Carga ⬆ or Descarga ⬇)
- Product type (e.g., “PT”, “PP”, “Fardos”)
- Wait time with traffic light color
- Incident count (if any)
Enable Help Mode (Optional)
Click the lightbulb icon in the header to highlight compatible bays:
- Green bays: Compatible with the truck being dragged
- Red bays: Incompatible due to validation rules
Drag Truck to Bay
- Click and hold on the truck card in the queue
- Drag the cursor over the desired bay on the yard map
- The bay will highlight to indicate drop readiness
- Release the mouse button to complete the assignment
Confirm Special Bays
Bays b10 and b12 require coordination with the T2 team:
- A confirmation dialog will appear: “¡ATENCIÓN! Coordina con T2.”
- Click “OK” to proceed with the assignment
- Click “Cancel” to choose a different bay
Validation Rules
The system enforces three validation rules before allowing bay assignment:1. Bay Availability
Rule: A bay must be unoccupied to accept a new truck.
2. Truck Type Compatibility
Rule: The truck type must be in the bay’s allowed truck list.
| Truck Type | Code | Compatible Bays |
|---|---|---|
| Parihuelero | P | All bays (b0.1, b0.2, b1-b5, b10, b12, b14) |
| Jumbo | J | All except b10, b12 |
| Bi-tren | B | All except b10, b12 |
| Tolva | T | b0.1, b0.2, b1, b2 only |
| Otros | O | All except b10, b12 |
3. Operation and Product Compatibility
Rule: The bay must support the truck’s operation (Descarga/Carga) AND the specific product type.
Discharge Operations (Descarga - D)
| Bay Group | Products Accepted |
|---|---|
| b0.1, b0.2, b1, b2 | Fardos, Envases, CPC, PH, MIXD |
| b3, b4, b5 | PT (Producto Terminado), MIXD |
| b14 | PT, MIXD |
| b10, b12 | PT, PP (Polipropileno), MIXD |
Charge Operations (Carga - C)
| Bay Group | Products Accepted |
|---|---|
| b0.1, b0.2, b1, b2 | None (discharge only) |
| b3, b4, b5 | PP, PT, MIXC |
| b14 | PP, PT, MIXC, ENVLT (Envases Ligeros Terminados) |
| b10, b12 | PP, PT, MIXC |
- “Operación no permitida en esta bahía” - The bay doesn’t support the operation type
- “Producto no admitido en esta bahía” - The product is not compatible with the bay
MIXD (Mixed Discharge) and MIXC (Mixed Charge) are wildcard product codes that match any bay supporting discharge or charge operations respectively.
Reassigning Trucks Between Bays
You can move trucks between bays after initial assignment:Drag from Occupied Bay
Click and hold on the truck information inside the occupied bay (not the bay itself).
Automatic vs. Manual Completion
Simulation Mode
- Trucks automatically exit after 8 time units (8 seconds)
- Exit time is added to shift statistics
- No manual intervention required
Real Mode
- Trucks require manual completion by clicking the ”✅ Salida” button
- This reflects real-world operations where operators confirm truck departures
- See Monitoring Operations for exit workflow
Common Assignment Scenarios
Scenario 1: Parihuelero with Finished Product Discharge
Scenario 2: Tolva with Bales Discharge
Scenario 3: Bi-tren with Polypropylene Charge
Best Practices
Prioritize by Wait Time
Prioritize by Wait Time
- Assign red-status trucks first to avoid SLA violations
- Use the “Priority Alert” panel to identify the longest-waiting truck
- Monitor the traffic light legend for threshold awareness
Balance Bay Utilization
Balance Bay Utilization
- Distribute trucks across multiple bays when possible
- Avoid queuing multiple trucks for the same bay
- Consider geographic layout for efficient yard flow
Reserve Special Bays
Reserve Special Bays
- Use b10 and b12 only when necessary (coordination overhead)
- Save b14 for special cases (ENVLT products)
- Keep high-capacity bays (b3-b5) available for peak hours
Use Help Mode for Training
Use Help Mode for Training
- Enable Help Mode when training new operators
- Practice assignments during low-traffic periods
- Review validation error messages to learn rules
Troubleshooting
Assignment Rejected Despite Correct Bay
Cause: Bay may already be occupied by another user’s assignment that hasn’t refreshed yet. Solution: Wait 10 seconds for the next polling cycle and try again.Truck Reappears in Queue After Assignment
Cause: Database update failed due to connection issue. Solution: Check network connection and reassign the truck. Verify in the database that theestado field updated to “Descargando” or “Cargando”.
Cannot Drag Truck Card
Cause: Session may not be active. Solution: Verify the header shows “Detener” (stop) button. If it shows “Iniciar” (start), start a new session.Next Steps
