Overview

Dashboard Backus is a real-time yard management system designed to monitor and optimize truck operations at the Backus logistics facility. This guide will help you get started with the platform.

System Requirements

  • Modern web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge)
  • Stable internet connection
  • Valid user credentials (email and PIN)

Logging In

1

Access the Login Page

Navigate to the Dashboard Backus URL provided by your administrator.
2

Enter Your Credentials

  • Email: Your registered email address
  • PIN: Your 4-6 digit personal identification number
Credentials are case-sensitive. Ensure your email is entered in lowercase.
3

Select Your Role

The system automatically assigns your role based on your credentials:
  • Admin: Full access to bay assignments, incident management, and reports
  • Client: View-only access with fixed wait time thresholds (60/120 minutes)

Understanding the Interface

Main Components

The Dashboard Backus interface consists of several key areas:
  1. Header Bar: Contains start/stop controls, dark mode toggle, help mode, and session management
  2. Yard Map: Visual representation of all bay locations with drag-and-drop functionality
  3. Real-Time Panels: Three live data panels showing priority alerts, average times, and shift counts
  4. Queue Footer: Horizontal scrollable list of trucks waiting for bay assignment
  5. Traffic Light Legend: Color-coded wait time indicators (green, yellow, red)

Real-Time Data Panels

Priority Alert

Displays the truck with the longest wait time, including plate number, arrival time, and current location.

Average Yard Time

Shows the net average time trucks spend in the yard (excluding incident downtime), calculated in real-time.

Shift Count

Tracks the number of trucks processed during each shift:
  • T1: 07:00-15:00
  • T2: 15:01-23:00
  • T3: 23:01-06:59

Starting a Session

1

Click 'Iniciar' (Start)

Located in the header bar, this button opens the configuration modal.

Configure Session Settings

For Admin Users:
  • Mode: Choose between Simulation (accelerated time, 1 second = 1 unit) or Real (1 minute = 1 unit)
  • Yellow Threshold: Time before a truck enters the yellow warning state (default: 60 units)
  • Red Threshold: Time before a truck enters the red critical state (default: 120 units)
For Client Users:
  • Thresholds are fixed at 60/120 minutes and cannot be modified
  • Only Real mode is available
3

Confirm Configuration

Click “Confirmar” to start the session. The system will:
  • Load all trucks currently in the queue from the database
  • Begin polling for updates every 10 seconds (queue) and 15 seconds (panels)
  • Activate drag-and-drop functionality for bay assignments
Once a session is active, you cannot modify configuration settings without stopping and restarting the session.

Dark Mode Toggle

Click the moon/sun icon in the header to switch between dark and light themes. Dark mode is enabled by default for reduced eye strain during long shifts.

Help Mode

Enable Help Mode (lightbulb icon) to:
  • Highlight compatible bays in green when dragging a truck
  • Show incompatible bays in red with validation messages
  • Increase map brightness for better visibility
Help Mode is especially useful when learning bay compatibility rules or training new operators.

Understanding Traffic Light System

The system uses a color-coded traffic light system to indicate truck wait times:
ColorMeaningAction Required
🟢 GreenWait time below yellow thresholdNormal priority
🟡 YellowWait time between yellow and red thresholdsElevated priority - assign soon
🔴 RedWait time exceeds red thresholdCritical priority - assign immediately
The traffic light color follows each truck from the queue into the bay, providing continuous visibility of wait times.

Troubleshooting

Session Won’t Start

  • Verify your internet connection is stable
  • Check that you have active user credentials
  • Try refreshing the browser page

Trucks Not Appearing in Queue

  • Ensure the session is active (“Iniciar” button shows “Detener”)
  • Verify trucks have status “En cola” in the database
  • Wait for the next polling cycle (10 seconds)

Data Not Updating

  • Check console for connection errors
  • Verify Supabase connection status
  • Stop and restart the session if issues persist
The system polls the database every 10 seconds for queue updates and every 15 seconds for panel data. Brief delays are normal during high-traffic periods.
