Installing Bulk Crap Uninstaller

BCU offers multiple installation options to suit different needs. Choose the version that works best for your situation.

Download Options

BCU is available in three different variants:

Setup

Traditional installer that sets up BCU as a normal application. Automatically installs .NET runtime if needed.

Portable

Self-contained version with bundled .NET runtime. No installation required. Larger file size.

net

Standalone portable version requiring separate .NET runtime installation. Smallest file size.

Installation Instructions

Setup Version

Download the installer

Download the Setup version from one of the sources above. Look for a file named similar to BCUninstaller_X.X_setup.exe.

Run the installer

Double-click the downloaded file to launch the installation wizard.

Follow the wizard

Follow the on-screen instructions. The installer will automatically check for and install the required .NET runtime if it’s not already present on your system.

Complete installation

Once complete, BCU will be installed and ready to use. You can launch it from the Start menu or desktop shortcut.
The Setup version may require an internet connection to download the .NET runtime if it’s not already installed on your system.

Portable Version

Download the portable archive

Download the Portable version. Look for a file named similar to BCUninstaller_X.X_portable.zip.

Extract the archive

Extract the ZIP file to your desired location (e.g., a folder on your desktop, USB drive, or any other location).

Run BCUninstaller

Navigate to the extracted folder and double-click BCUninstaller.exe to launch the application.
The Portable version is self-contained and requires no installation. All settings are stored in the application folder, making it perfect for portable use.

Ensure .NET runtime is installed

Before downloading, make sure you have the appropriate .NET runtime installed. See System Requirements for details.

Download the net archive

Download the net version. Look for a file named similar to BCUninstaller_X.X_net.zip.

Extract the archive

Extract the ZIP file to your desired location.

Run BCUninstaller

Navigate to the extracted folder and double-click BCUninstaller.exe to launch the application.
If you get a framework error when launching the net version, you need to install the appropriate .NET runtime. See System Requirements for installation instructions.

Nightly Builds

If you want to test the latest features and fixes before they’re officially released, you can download nightly builds:

Download automated builds from the continuous integration pipeline
Nightly builds are development versions and may contain bugs or incomplete features. Use them at your own risk and only if you want to help test new functionality.
