Tips & Best Practices

After attending an event, mark it as “Attended” within 24 hours. This keeps your dashboard accurate and helps TechCal improve recommendations.
Set a reminder to check your dashboard every Monday. Review upcoming events, goal progress, and adjust your event tracking accordingly.
Aim for 1-2 events per week if you’re employed full-time. Overcommitting leads to burnout and missed events.
After each event, note which skills you practiced or learned. This data powers your Learning Progress card.
Move events through pipeline stages as your plans solidify. This prevents last-minute scrambles for registration.

Troubleshooting

Cause: Events aren’t marked as attended, or event skills don’t match your goal.Solution:
  1. Mark past events as “Attended”
  2. Ensure your profile goals are specific (e.g., “Learn React” not “Learn coding”)
  3. Refresh dashboard data
Cause: You haven’t tracked or attended any events yet.Solution: Visit the Discovery page and track some events. Your dashboard will populate as you engage with events.
Cause: Event tags or skills are mismatched with your profile.Solution: Update your profile skills in SettingsCareer Profile. TechCal will re-calculate skill matches.
