Getting started with jøsh takes less than 5 minutes:Enter your phone number
Visit the jøsh website and enter your US phone number (+1 format). You’ll receive a welcome text immediately.
The welcome message: “hey! welcome to jøsh - no swiping, no small talk, no overthinking. we’ll handpick a match and text the plan. first, a few quick questions.”
Complete onboarding
Respond to the onboarding questions via SMS. The system will ask you about yourself and what you’re looking for in a partner. See Onboarding for details.
Submit photos and ID
Send 2+ photos (1 close-up, 1 full-body) and a photo of your driver’s license for identity verification. All photos are private and only reviewed by matchmakers.
What to expect
Once you’re approved:Manual matching
Our team carefully reviews profiles and handpicks compatible matches. No algorithms, no swiping.
Direct contact
When matched, you’ll get a text and can start messaging your match directly through jøsh.
Automated scheduling
We coordinate date times via text, negotiating with both parties to find a time that works.
Venue suggestions
Get AI-powered venue recommendations based on both your profiles and preferences.
Phone number requirements
- Must be a US phone number (+1 country code)
- Format: +1 followed by 10 digits (e.g., +15551234567)
- You can only sign up once per number
- Banned numbers cannot re-register
Privacy and security
- Your phone number is never shared with matches
- Photos are only viewed by jøsh matchmakers
- Driver’s license is used solely for identity verification
- Messages are relayed through jøsh — matches don’t see your real number
- You can end a match at any time
