Quick start guide

This guide will help you set up Nimaz and start using it within minutes. We’ll walk through the initial onboarding, configure your location for accurate prayer times, and explore the main features.

First-time setup

When you first open Nimaz, you’ll go through a guided onboarding process.

Welcome to Nimaz

The app opens with a welcome screen introducing Nimaz and its key features:
  • Accurate prayer times
  • Complete Quran with audio
  • Authentic Hadith collections
  • Daily duas and supplications
Tap Next to continue.
2

Grant location permission

Nimaz needs your location to calculate accurate prayer times based on where you are. When prompted, tap Grant Location Access and select:
  • Allow or While using the app (recommended)
Location access enables:
  • Automatic prayer time calculation
  • Precise Qibla direction
  • Distance to Mecca
  • Automatic location detection when traveling
Once granted, Nimaz will automatically detect your city and location name (e.g., “Dublin, Ireland”).
3

Enable notifications

Get reminded for prayer times with beautiful Adhan notifications.Tap Enable Notifications and allow the permission. You can customize:
  • Adhan sounds
  • Pre-prayer reminders
  • Notification timing
  • Quiet hours
On Android 13+, notification permission must be explicitly granted. Without it, you won’t receive prayer time alerts.
4

Disable battery optimization

For reliable prayer notifications, disable battery optimization for Nimaz.Tap Disable Battery Optimization and select:
  • Allow or Don’t optimize
This ensures Nimaz can deliver prayer notifications on time, even when your phone is in sleep mode or when you’re not actively using the app.
Battery optimization can prevent background apps from running, which may cause missed prayer notifications. Disabling it for Nimaz ensures consistent alerts.
