Overview

Health Manager allows you to share your health data with other users in read-only mode. This is useful for:
  • Sharing with family members who help manage your health
  • Providing access to caregivers
  • Allowing healthcare providers to review your records
  • Enabling remote health monitoring by trusted individuals
All shared access is read-only. Other users can view your data but cannot modify or delete your records.

Before You Start

To share data with someone, they must:
  1. Have a registered account in your Health Manager system
  2. Have set up their username (Nick) in their profile
Ask the person you want to share with for their exact username before starting the sharing process.

How to Share Your Data

1

Navigate to Share Data

Go to your Profile section and select “Share Data” (Compartir Datos).
2

Search for the User

Start typing the username of the person you want to share with. The system will show matching users as you type.
You need to type at least 2 characters before search results appear.
3

Select the User

When you see the correct user in the search results, click on their username to select them. The search will show up to 5 matching users at a time. If you don’t see the person you’re looking for, continue typing to narrow the results.
4

Grant Access

Click the “Add” or “Grant Access” button to share your data with the selected user.
The user will immediately gain read-only access to all your health records.
5

Confirmation

You’ll see a confirmation message indicating that access has been granted successfully.
The username search system is designed to help you find users quickly:
  • Partial Matching: Search works with partial usernames (e.g., “john” will find “john_doe”)
  • Real-time Results: Results update as you type
  • Excludes You: You won’t see your own username in search results
  • Limited Results: Shows top 5 matches to keep the interface clean

Managing Shared Access

Viewing Who Has Access

In the Share Data section, you can see a list of all users who currently have access to your health records:
  • Username of each viewer
  • User’s full name
  • Options to revoke access

Revoking Access

If you need to remove someone’s access:
1

Open Share Data Settings

Navigate to Profile > Share Data
2

Find the User

Locate the user in your list of current viewers
3

Remove Access

Click the remove or revoke button next to their name
4

Confirm

The user will immediately lose access to your health data
Access removal is immediate. The user will no longer be able to view your health records after you revoke their permission.

What Shared Users Can See

When you grant someone access, they can view:
  • All your medical appointments
  • Exercise activity logs
  • Weight measurements and charts
  • Heart rate measurements
  • Medical documents and files
  • Calendar view of your health activities

What Shared Users Cannot Do

Shared access is strictly read-only. Users with access cannot:
  • Add new records to your account
  • Edit existing records
  • Delete any of your data
  • Change your profile settings
  • Share your data with additional users
  • Export your data (only you can export your own data)

Validation and Safety Features

Health Manager includes several safety features to protect your data:

Automatic Validations

  • Username Verification: The system verifies that the username exists before allowing you to grant access
  • Self-Sharing Prevention: You cannot share data with yourself
  • Duplicate Prevention: You cannot grant access to the same user twice

Error Messages

You’ll receive clear error messages if:
  • The username doesn’t exist: “We couldn’t find any user with that username”
  • You try to share with yourself: “You cannot share data with yourself”
  • The user already has access: “This user already has access to your data”
If you receive an error about a username not existing, double-check the spelling with the person you’re trying to share with.

Privacy Best Practices

Only Share When Necessary

  • Grant access only to people who genuinely need to see your health information
  • Review your list of viewers periodically
  • Remove access when it’s no longer needed

Communicate Clearly

  • Inform users when you grant them access
  • Explain what they can and cannot do
  • Let them know if you revoke their access

Regular Audits

  • Periodically review who has access to your data
  • Remove access for users who no longer need it
  • Update your sharing settings when your care team changes
As an administrator, you should also educate users about the importance of keeping their usernames private and only sharing with trusted individuals.

Accessing Shared Data

If someone has shared their data with you:
  1. Navigate to the shared users section in the application
  2. Select the user whose data you want to view
  3. Browse their health records in read-only mode
  4. Return to your own data by switching back to your profile

Common Questions

Q: Can I share with users outside my Health Manager installation? A: No, you can only share with users registered in the same Health Manager system. Each installation maintains its own separate user database. Q: Will shared users receive notifications? A: Check your system’s notification settings. Notification behavior may vary based on your configuration. Q: Can I limit what specific data is shared? A: Currently, sharing is all-or-nothing. When you grant access, the user can view all your health records.
