The Microsoft Teams integration connects your Sentry organization to a Teams workspace. It posts alert notifications to channels or users and supports interactive message actions so you can respond to issues without leaving Teams.

Features

Alert notifications

Route Sentry alerts to any Teams channel or user based on alert rule conditions.

Interactive messages

Assign, ignore, and resolve Sentry issues directly from Teams adaptive card messages.

Channel and DM support

Post notifications to team channels or send direct messages to individual users.

Installation

The Teams integration is installed through the Microsoft Teams Marketplace, not directly in Sentry.
1

Find the Sentry app in Teams Marketplace

In Microsoft Teams, open the Apps section and search for Sentry. Alternatively, use the direct install link from the Teams Marketplace.
2

Add to your team

Click Add to a team and select the team where you want to receive Sentry notifications. Click Set up a bot.
3

Complete setup in the General channel

After adding the bot, Sentry sends a welcome message to the General channel of your team. Click the link in the welcome message to complete the installation in Sentry.
4

Authorize in Sentry

You are redirected to Sentry to confirm the connection between your Teams tenant and your Sentry organization. Sign in and click Accept.
The Teams integration cannot be installed directly from Settings > Integrations in Sentry. The installation must start from the Microsoft Teams app store.

Setting up alert notifications

1

Open alert rules

Go to Alerts > Alert Rules and create or edit a rule.
2

Add a Teams action

Under Then perform these actions, click Add action and select Send a Microsoft Teams notification.
3

Configure the action

Choose the Teams workspace and the target channel or user for the notification.
4

Save the rule

Interactive message actions

When Sentry posts an alert to Teams, it sends an adaptive card that includes action buttons:
ActionDescription
ResolveMarks the Sentry issue as resolved.
IgnoreIgnores the issue (mutes notifications for it).
AssignOpens a menu to assign the issue to a team member.
These actions update the Sentry issue in real time and reflect the change in the Teams card.

Linking your identity

To receive personal notifications and use interactive actions, link your Teams identity to your Sentry account:
  1. In Teams, open a direct message with the Sentry bot.
  2. Send a message or follow the prompt to link your account.
  3. Click the link provided to complete the identity connection in Sentry.

Supported Teams features

  • Team channels: Post notifications to channels in any team where the Sentry bot has been installed.
  • Direct messages: Send notifications directly to individual users who have linked their identities.
  • Adaptive cards: Notifications use Teams adaptive cards for rich formatting and interactive buttons.
