Toggle Panel Visibility

Click the × button in a panel header to hide it. Re-enable via settings.
3

Settings Persistence

Panel visibility preferences are saved to localStorage and restored on reload.
In the desktop app, the Runtime Configuration panel is always enabled and cannot be disabled - it provides essential credential management.

Panel Reordering

Rearrange panels using drag-and-drop:
1

Locate Drag Handle

Hover over any panel header to reveal the drag handle (usually on the left side).

Panel Resizing

Adjust panel heights to prioritize important information:

Row Span Control

Panels support 4 height sizes:

span-1

Compact - Minimum height (~200px)

span-2

Standard - Default height (~400px)

span-3

Large - Extended height (~600px)

Snap to Span

The panel snaps to the nearest span size (1-4) based on drag distance.Resize step: 80 pixels per span level.
4

Double-click the resize handle to restore the panel’s default height.

Column Span (Width) Control

On ultra-wide monitors (≥ 2000px), panels can span multiple columns:

col-span-1

col-span-3

Triple width

  • worldmonitor-panel-spans - Row heights
  • worldmonitor-panel-col-spans - Column widths

Panel-Specific Features

Activity Tracking

Certain panels track new content:
  • Badge counter - Shows number of new items since last view
  • Pulse animation - Draws attention to updates
  • Auto-clear on scroll - Marking items as “seen” when you scroll the panel
  • Auto-clear on click - Any click in the panel clears the badge
Activity tracking applies to: Live News, Telegram Intelligence, OREF Sirens, and other feed-based panels.

Panel Summaries

News panels include an AI summarization feature:
1

Locate Sparkle Button

Find the ✨ button in the panel header (next to the count).
2

Click to Summarize

Click the sparkle button to generate an AI summary of the panel’s content.
3

View Summary

A summary section appears between the header and content, showing:
  • Key themes from the top 8 headlines
  • Variant-aware framing (geopolitical, tech, or finance focus)
  • Language-aware output (matches UI language)
4

Cached Results

Summaries are cached for 10 minutes to avoid redundant API calls.

Virtual Scrolling

Panels with 15+ items use virtual scrolling for performance:
  • Only visible items are rendered in the DOM
  • 3-item overscan buffer above/below viewport
  • Smooth scrolling with requestAnimationFrame batching
  • Automatic ResizeObserver-based adaptation
Virtual scrolling is transparent to users but dramatically improves performance with large feeds (100+ items).

Layout Modes

Standard Layout (< 2000px)

Panels stack vertically in a single column:
  • Full-width panels
  • Consistent vertical rhythm
  • Mobile-friendly

Ultra-Wide Layout (≥ 2000px)

L-shaped grid with map on left:
  • Map occupies 60% width on left
  • Panels tile in a 3-column grid to the right and below
  • Automatic column adjustment based on viewport width
  • Uses CSS display: contents for efficient layout
The layout automatically adapts when you resize your browser window. No manual configuration needed.

  • Size preferences are preserved (if applicable)
Switching variants resets your panel configuration. Custom orders and sizes for the old variant are not preserved.

Update Versions

When new panels are added in updates:
  • Existing panel order is preserved
  • New panels are merged into your configuration
  • Migration keys prevent duplicate migrations
Migration keys in localStorage:
  • worldmonitor-panel-order-v1.9
  • worldmonitor-layout-reset-v2.5
  • worldmonitor-tech-insights-top-v1

Resetting Panel Layout

Restore default panel configuration:
1

Clear localStorage Keys

Open browser DevTools (F12) → Console, then run:
localStorage.removeItem('panel-order');
localStorage.removeItem('worldmonitor-panel-spans');
localStorage.removeItem('worldmonitor-panel-col-spans');
2

Reload Page
