System requirements

Before installing BloxChat, ensure your system meets these requirements:
  • Windows 10 (version 1809 or later) or Windows 11
  • 64-bit (x64) architecture required
  • Administrator privileges for installation
BloxChat is currently Windows-only. Linux and macOS are not supported, though community contributions for these platforms are welcome.
  • Microsoft Edge WebView2 runtime (usually pre-installed on Windows 10/11)
  • The installer will automatically install WebView2 if not present
  • Alternatively, download from Microsoft’s WebView2 page
  • Roblox Player must be installed from roblox.com
  • BloxChat reads from the Roblox logs folder: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Roblox\logs
  • Ensure Roblox has write permissions to its logs directory
  • Active internet connection required
  • Outbound HTTPS access to the API server (default: https://bloxchat.logix.lol)
  • WebSocket support (typically works through most firewalls)
  • Minimum: Any modern Windows PC from the last 5-7 years
  • RAM: 100-200 MB typical usage
  • Storage: ~150 MB for installation
  • Display: Works at any resolution (optimized for 1920×1080 and above)

Installation steps

Download the installer

Visit the GitHub Releases page and download the latest .msi installer.The file will be named something like:
BloxChat_1.9.1_x64_en-US.msi
Look for the Assets section at the bottom of the release notes to find the installer.

Run the installer

  1. Double-click the downloaded .msi file
  2. Windows may show a SmartScreen warning (this is normal for newly signed applications)
    • Click More info
    • Click Run anyway
  3. The Windows Installer wizard will open
  4. Click Next to proceed through the installation
  5. Choose your installation location (default is recommended)
  6. Click Install
You’ll need administrator privileges to install BloxChat. If prompted by User Account Control (UAC), click Yes.
The installer will:
  • Extract application files to Program Files/BloxChat
  • Install WebView2 runtime if not present
  • Create Start Menu shortcuts
  • Add an uninstaller to Windows Settings

Launch BloxChat

After installation completes:
  1. Find BloxChat in your Start Menu
  2. Or double-click the desktop shortcut if you selected that option
  3. The app will open with the login screen
On first launch, Windows Defender Firewall may ask for network permissions:
  • Check Private networks (recommended)
  • Click Allow access

Complete first-time setup

Verify your Roblox account

  1. Click Start Verification on the login screen
  2. Note the 6-character code displayed (e.g., ABC123)
  3. Click Join verification game
  4. Submit the code in the verification game
  5. Return to BloxChat — you’ll be logged in automatically
The verification code expires in 90 seconds. If it expires, simply restart the verification process.

Configure Roblox logs path (if needed)

BloxChat should automatically detect your Roblox logs. If not:
  1. Click Settings (gear icon)
  2. Find Roblox Logs Folder
  3. The default path should be displayed
  4. If empty, click Use default Path
  5. Click Save Settings
The default path is:
C:\Users\[YourUsername]\AppData\Local\Roblox\logs

Verifying installation

To confirm BloxChat is properly installed:
  1. Open BloxChat
  2. Go to Settings
  3. Scroll to About section
  4. Verify App Version shows the correct version number

Installation locations

BloxChat installs files to these locations:
C:\Program Files\BloxChat\
├── BloxChat.exe           # Main executable
├── resources/             # App resources
└── uninstall.exe          # Uninstaller

Troubleshooting installation issues

Symptoms: Double-clicking the .msi does nothing, or shows an error.Solutions:
  • Right-click the .msiRun as administrator
  • Ensure Windows Installer service is running:
    1. Press Win+R, type services.msc, press Enter
    2. Find Windows Installer
    3. Ensure it’s set to Manual or Automatic
  • Download the installer again (file may be corrupted)
  • Disable antivirus temporarily during installation
Symptoms: Windows shows “Windows protected your PC” message.Solutions:
  • Click More info
  • Click Run anyway
  • This is normal for applications not widely downloaded yet
  • BloxChat is open-source and safe to run
Symptoms: Error message about missing WebView2 runtime.Solutions:
  • Download WebView2 manually: Microsoft WebView2 Download
  • Install the “Evergreen Standalone Installer”
  • Restart your computer
  • Run the BloxChat installer again
Symptoms: BloxChat closes immediately or shows a blank window.Solutions:
  • Check Windows Event Viewer for error details:
    1. Press Win+R, type eventvwr.msc, press Enter
    2. Go to Windows LogsApplication
    3. Look for errors from “BloxChat”
  • Ensure WebView2 is installed: Check edge://settings/help in Microsoft Edge
  • Verify you’re running Windows 10 version 1809 or later
  • Try reinstalling the application
Symptoms: “Cannot connect to server” error after installation.Solutions:
  • Check your internet connection
  • Verify firewall isn’t blocking BloxChat:
    1. Windows Settings → Privacy & SecurityFirewall
    2. Allow an app through firewall
    3. Ensure BloxChat is checked for Private networks
  • Try disabling VPN temporarily
  • In Settings, verify API Server URL is: https://bloxchat.logix.lol
Symptoms: BloxChat doesn’t switch channels when joining games.Solutions:
  • Open SettingsRoblox Logs Folder
  • Click Use default Path
  • Manually verify the path exists:
    1. Press Win+R
    2. Type: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Roblox\logs
    3. Press Enter — folder should open
  • If folder doesn’t exist, run Roblox at least once to create it
  • Click Save Settings in BloxChat after correcting the path

Uninstalling BloxChat

If you need to remove BloxChat:

Using Windows Settings

  1. Open Windows Settings (Win+I)
  2. Go to AppsInstalled apps
  3. Search for BloxChat
  4. Click the three dots → Uninstall
  5. Confirm the uninstallation

Clean up user data (optional)

To remove all settings and session data:
  1. Press Win+R
  2. Type: %APPDATA%\com.bloxchat.app
  3. Press Enter
  4. Delete the folder
This will remove your saved settings, including API URL, logs path, and opacity preferences.

Updating BloxChat

Automatic updates (recommended):
  • BloxChat checks for updates on every launch
  • When an update is available, it downloads automatically
  • You’ll see: “Update ready: v[version]”
  • Restart the app to complete the update
Manual updates:
  1. Download the latest installer from Releases
  2. Run the new installer (it will upgrade in-place)
  3. Launch BloxChat
Don’t uninstall before updating — the new installer will upgrade your existing installation while preserving your settings.
