EmbyTok provides intuitive playback controls designed for touch-first interaction. Control your viewing experience with gestures, on-screen controls, and keyboard shortcuts.

Basic Playback

Play/Pause

Tap anywhere on the video to toggle between play and pause.
Videos automatically begin playing when they scroll into view and pause when you navigate away.

Audio Controls

Mute/Unmute

Toggle Audio:
  • Tap the volume icon in the top-right corner
  • Press M on keyboard
  • Audio state persists across videos
Volume Indicator:
  • Red X icon: Audio is muted
  • White speaker icon: Audio is playing
Spinning Disc Indicator: The spinning disc at the bottom-right of each video shows playback status:
  • Spinning: Video is playing
  • Red border: Audio is muted
  • Gray border: Audio is enabled
EmbyTok starts with audio muted by default for a better browsing experience. Unmute when you find a video you want to watch with sound.

Video Seeking & Progress

Progress Bar

A seek bar appears at the bottom of each video showing:
  • Current playback position
  • Total video duration
  • Visual timeline of progress
To seek:
  1. Tap and drag the progress slider left/right
  2. Video playback jumps to your selected position
  3. Release to continue playback

Swipe to Seek

Use horizontal swipe gestures for quick seeking:
  1. Swipe right on the video → Fast forward
  2. Swipe left on the video → Rewind
  3. A preview overlay shows your seek offset (e.g., “+15s” or “-10s”)
  4. Release to apply the seek
The further you swipe, the larger the seek offset. Each 5 pixels of swipe equals approximately 1 second of seek time.

Keyboard Seeking

  • Right Arrow: Skip forward 10 seconds
  • Left Arrow: Skip backward 10 seconds

Speed Controls

2x Playback Speed

Hold your finger down on the video for long press (500ms+) to activate 2x playback speed:
  1. Touch and hold anywhere on the video
  2. After 0.5 seconds, a “2x Speed” indicator appears
  3. Video plays at double speed while you hold
  4. Release to return to normal speed
This is perfect for quickly scrubbing through videos to find interesting moments without manually seeking.
