When creating your Star Wars crawl, you can choose between three resolution options: SD, HD, and 4K. Each offers different benefits depending on how you plan to use your video.

Available resolutions

The Star Wars Crawl Creator offers three quality tiers to match your specific needs:

SD

Standard DefinitionBest for social media sharing and quick previews

HD

High DefinitionBest for most uses, including presentations and web viewing

4K

Ultra High DefinitionBest for large screens, professional projects, and maximum quality

When to use each resolution

Choosing the right resolution depends on where and how you’ll display your crawl.

SD (Standard Definition)

  • Quick social media posts
  • Email attachments with size limits
  • Mobile-only viewing
  • Fast generation when time is critical
  • Testing and previewing your text before committing to higher quality
SD is perfect when you need something quick or when file size matters more than maximum quality.

HD (High Definition)

  • Online presentations and meetings
  • YouTube and social media uploads
  • Website embedding
  • Most TV and computer screens
  • General-purpose use
  • Balancing quality and file size
HD is the recommended choice for most projects. It provides excellent quality without excessive file sizes.

4K (Ultra High Definition)

  • Large screen displays and projectors
  • Professional video productions
  • Film festivals or theatrical screenings
  • Future-proofing your content
  • Maximum text clarity and detail
  • Projects where quality is paramount
4K files are significantly larger than HD. Make sure you have adequate storage and bandwidth for downloading and sharing.

Quality and file size trade-offs

Understanding the differences helps you make the best choice:
Text clarity:
  • SD: Readable but may show pixelation on screens larger than tablets
  • HD: Sharp and clear on most displays up to 55” screens
  • 4K: Crystal clear even on large displays and projectors
Star field detail:
  • SD: Background stars visible but less defined
  • HD: Clear starfield with good depth
  • 4K: Maximum detail in space background and subtle effects
While exact sizes vary based on crawl length, here’s what to expect:Relative file sizes:
  • SD: Smallest files, easiest to share via email
  • HD: 3-4x larger than SD, still manageable for most uses
  • 4K: 8-10x larger than SD, may require file transfer services
The video you receive will be delivered to your email. Very large 4K files may be delivered via a download link rather than direct attachment.
SD:
  • Plays on any device
  • Minimal bandwidth required for streaming
  • Fastest loading times
HD:
  • Plays on all modern devices
  • Requires moderate bandwidth for smooth streaming
  • Standard for most web video
4K:
  • Requires 4K-capable display to see full benefit
  • Needs strong bandwidth for streaming
  • May require transcoding for some older devices

Choosing the right resolution

Use this decision tree to select the best option:
1

Consider your display

Where will this play?
  • Small screens (phones, tablets): SD is sufficient
  • Computer monitors, TVs: HD recommended
  • Large screens, projectors, theaters: Choose 4K
2

Consider your purpose

How will you use it?
  • Social media, casual sharing: SD or HD
  • Professional presentations: HD
  • Production work, archival: 4K
3

Consider file handling

How will you share it?
  • Email attachment: SD
  • Cloud storage, streaming: HD
  • Direct download, no size constraints: 4K if needed

Recommendations by use case

Here are specific recommendations for common scenarios:

Personal events

HD recommendedWeddings, birthdays, partiesGreat for sharing with guests and displaying at the event

Business presentations

HD recommendedTeam meetings, client presentationsProfessional quality without huge file sizes

Social media content

SD or HDInstagram, TikTok, Twitter, FacebookPlatforms often compress video anyway

Film projects

4K recommendedShort films, video productionsMaximum quality for professional output

Quick sharing

SD recommendedTesting text, showing friendsFast to download and easy to send

Website embedding

HD recommendedEmbedding on your siteLooks sharp while loading quickly
When in doubt, choose HD. It provides excellent quality for the vast majority of use cases and is easy to handle and share.

Can you change resolution later?

Each video generation creates a single resolution. If you need your crawl in multiple resolutions:
1

Submit the form again

Fill out the form with identical text but select a different resolution.
2

Use the same email

You can use the same email address to receive multiple versions.
3

Wait for delivery

Each resolution will be generated and delivered separately within a few minutes.
There’s no way to “upgrade” an existing video file. Each resolution must be generated from scratch by resubmitting the form.
