Overview

Vitu’s Hydration feature helps you stay properly hydrated by tracking your daily water consumption. The app calculates a personalized daily goal based on your weight, age, and gender, then displays your progress in a visual circular indicator and weekly chart.

How to Use

1

View Your Daily Goal

When you open the Hydration screen, you’ll see:
  • A circular progress indicator showing current liters consumed vs. your goal
  • Your personalized daily target (e.g., “de 2.5 L”)
The goal is calculated automatically as approximately 35 ml per kg of body weight, with adjustments for age and gender.
2

Log Water Intake

Tap one of the three quick-add buttons to log water:
  • +100 ml: Small glass or cup
  • +250 ml: Standard glass (most common)
  • +500 ml: Large bottle or tumbler
The progress circle updates immediately with a smooth animation.
3

Track Your Progress

Watch your circular progress fill up throughout the day. When you reach 100% of your goal, the circle will be completely filled.Your total is displayed in liters (e.g., “1.5 L de 2.5 L”).
4

Review Weekly Trends

Scroll down to see the “Consumo semanal” (weekly consumption) chart, which shows your hydration percentage for the past 7 days.

What Data is Tracked

Daily Metrics

  • Total ml consumed: Sum of all water logged today
  • Daily goal (meta): Your personalized target in milliliters (shown in liters on screen)
  • Percentage progress: (total_ml / goal_ml) × 100, capped at 100%
Each time you tap a button (+100ml, +250ml, +500ml), the app:
  1. Adds the amount to today’s total
  2. Saves a timestamped log entry
  3. Updates the daily summary in local storage
  4. Recalculates your percentage

Weekly History

Vitu stores your hydration data for the past 7 days, showing percentage achieved each day in a line chart.
At the start of each new day (midnight), your consumption automatically resets to 0%. Previous days’ data is preserved in the weekly chart.

How Your Daily Goal is Calculated

Vitu uses a smart formula to determine your ideal daily water intake:

Base Formula

Base Goal = Body Weight (kg) × 35 ml

Age Adjustments

  • Under 14 years old: Goal reduced to 90% of base (children need less)
  • 65 years or older: Goal reduced to 95% of base (elderly need slightly less)
  • Ages 14-64: Full base amount

Gender Adjustments

  • Male (Masculino): +200 ml added to the goal
  • Female (Femenino): No additional adjustment

Goal Limits

The final goal is clamped between:
  • Minimum: 1,200 ml (1.2 L)
  • Maximum: 4,500 ml (4.5 L)
Example: A 30-year-old male weighing 70 kg would have a goal of:(70 kg × 35 ml) + 200 ml = 2,650 ml ≈ 2.7 L per day

How Results Are Displayed

Circular Progress Indicator

The main visual on the Hydration screen is a large animated circle showing:
  • Current consumption in liters (e.g., “1.2 L”)
  • Goal in smaller text below (e.g., “de 2.5 L”)
  • Fill percentage visually represented by the colored arc
  • Smooth animation when you add water
The circle uses your app’s theme color and fills clockwise as you drink more.

Quick-Add Buttons

Three horizontal buttons below the circle:
  • Each shows a water drop icon
  • Labels: “+100 ml”, “+250 ml”, “+500 ml”
  • Styled as elevated buttons with rounded corners
  • Tap to instantly log that amount

Weekly Line Chart

The “Consumo semanal” section displays:
  • 7-day trend line showing percentage achieved each day
  • X-axis labels: L, M, X, J, V, S, D (Monday through Sunday)
  • Y-axis labels: 0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%
  • Blue line (your theme color) with dots at each day
  • Shaded area under the line for visual emphasis
The chart shows percentage (not absolute liters) so you can compare days even if your goal changes (e.g., if you update your weight).

Goal Summary Card

At the bottom, a card shows:
  • Flag icon: “Meta diaria: X.X L” (your daily target)
  • Alarm icon: “Recordatorio cada 2 h” with a “Configurar” button (placeholder for future reminder feature)

Tips for Best Results

Log Immediately After Drinking

For the most accurate tracking:
  • Tap the appropriate button right after you finish a glass
  • If you drank from a bottle, estimate the closest amount (e.g., a typical water bottle is 500 ml)

Use Consistent Glassware

Get to know your common containers:
  • Small coffee cup: ~100-150 ml
  • Standard drinking glass: ~200-250 ml
  • Large tumbler: ~400-500 ml
  • Sports bottle: ~500-750 ml
If you drink a full 1-liter bottle, tap “+500 ml” twice to log 1,000 ml total.

Check Your Progress Multiple Times

Glance at the Hydration screen throughout the day to:
  • See if you’re on track (aim for ~30-40% by lunch, ~70% by dinner)
  • Remind yourself to drink more if the circle is too low
  • Celebrate when you reach 100%!

Adjust for Exercise or Heat

Your base goal is a starting point. Drink more if:
  • You exercised heavily (see your Exercise step count)
  • It’s very hot outside
  • You’re feeling thirsty or dehydrated
You can exceed 100% safely—the app will continue tracking.

Update Your Weight

If your weight changes significantly:
  1. Go to Ajustes (Settings)
  2. Update your peso (weight)
  3. Return to Hydration to see your recalculated goal
Changing your weight will update your goal going forward, but past days’ data remains calculated with the old goal.

Understanding the Weekly Chart

Reading the Trend

  • Flat line near 100%: Excellent! You’re consistently meeting your goal
  • Line hovering around 50-70%: Room for improvement; try to drink more
  • Peaks and valleys: Inconsistent hydration; aim for steadier daily intake
  • Line below 25%: You’re significantly under-hydrated most days

Why Percentage (Not Liters)?

The chart shows percentage because:
  • It’s easier to compare days (“Did I meet my goal?”)
  • Your goal might change if you update your profile
  • 100% is always your target, regardless of the absolute amount

Day Labels

The 7-day chart always shows:
  • Today as the rightmost point (Sunday if today is Sunday)
  • 6 days ago as the leftmost point
  • Days of the week: L (Lunes), M (Martes), X (Miércoles), J (Jueves), V (Viernes), S (Sábado), D (Domingo)

Troubleshooting

Progress Circle Not Updating

If tapping buttons doesn’t update the circle:
  • Check that you’re logged in (ensure user data is loaded)
  • Close and reopen the Hydration screen
  • Verify the app has storage permissions

Weekly Chart Shows All Zeros

This happens if:
  • You just started using the app (no historical data yet)
  • App data was recently cleared
  • You logged in with a different account
Just start logging water—data will populate over the coming days.

Goal Seems Too High or Too Low

Double-check your profile data:
  1. Go to Ajustes > Datos Personales
  2. Verify your:
    • Peso (weight in kg)
    • Edad (age)
    • Género (gender)
  3. Update if needed, then return to Hydration
If the calculated goal still seems off, remember:
  • Goals are personalized estimates, not medical advice
  • Adjust your intake based on how you feel
  • Consult a doctor if you have specific hydration needs

Reminder Not Working

The “Recordatorio cada 2 h” feature is a placeholder in the current version. Future updates may add push notifications to remind you to drink water.
