How it works

Mizen uses a hybrid parsing approach to give you accurate recipe data:
  1. JSON-LD extraction - Fast, free parsing of structured recipe data embedded in websites
  2. AI enrichment - Powered by Groq’s llama-3.3-70b-versatile for complex recipes and metadata
  3. Vision parsing - Extract recipes from images using AI vision models
The result: clean recipes with grouped ingredients, titled steps, cuisine tags, storage guidance, and plating notes—all without the blog posts and ads.

Core features

Recipe parsing

Extract recipes from any source:
  • URL parsing - Paste any recipe URL and get structured data in seconds
  • Image parsing - Upload photos of recipe cards, cookbooks, or handwritten notes
  • Smart validation - Automatically detects recipe content and validates URLs

Ingredient intelligence

Mizen understands ingredients at a deep level:
  • Automatic grouping - Ingredients organized by purpose (sauce, main, garnish, etc.)
  • Smart scaling - Handles fractions (½, ¼, ¾), ranges (2-3 cups), and mixed numbers (1½)
  • Substitutions - AI-generated alternatives for each ingredient
  • Descriptions - Learn what each ingredient contributes to the dish

  • Multiple timers can run simultaneously
  • Audio alerts when timers complete

Recipe organization

Recent recipes Your parsed recipes are automatically saved:
  • Quick search by recipe name or description
  • Cuisine-based filtering
  • One-click access to previously parsed recipes
  • Stored locally in your browser
Metadata enrichment Mizen extracts comprehensive recipe data:
  • Recipe title, author, and source URL
  • Prep time, cook time, and total time
  • Servings/yield information
  • Cuisine tags (Italian, Korean, Mediterranean, etc.)
  • Storage instructions and shelf life
  • Plating notes and serving suggestions
Privacy first: All recipe data is stored locally in your browser. Nothing is sent to external servers except during the initial parsing request.

Supported recipe sources

Mizen works with thousands of recipe websites:
  • AllRecipes, Food Network, Bon Appétit, Serious Eats
  • Personal food blogs with structured recipe data
  • Any site using JSON-LD or microdata schema

  • Frontend: React 19, Next.js 15, TypeScript
  • Styling: Tailwind CSS 4, Shadcn/ui components
  • AI/ML: Groq API with llama-3.3-70b-versatile
