Mizen provides powerful tools to organize, find, and manage your recipe collection. Whether you have a few favorites or hundreds of recipes, Mizen helps you stay organized.

Recipe Storage

Mizen stores recipes locally in your browser using localStorage. This means:
  • Recipes are private and stored on your device
  • No account required for basic functionality
  • Recipes persist between sessions
  • Works offline once a recipe is parsed

Recent Recipes

Recently parsed recipes appear on the homepage below the search bar.

What You See

Each recipe in the Recent Recipes list shows:
  • Recipe title
  • Total time (prep + cook time) as a pill badge
  • Three-dot menu for quick actions

Quick Actions Menu

Click the three-dot menu (⋯) on any recipe to:
  • Open in new tab: View the original source recipe in a new browser tab
  • Add to Cookbook: Bookmark the recipe for easy access
  • Copy link: Copy the source URL to clipboard
  • Rename: Change the recipe title
  • Delete: Remove the recipe from your collection (with undo option)

The homepage shows 5 recent recipes by default. Click “See more” to expand the full list.

  • Tips for Organization

Use Descriptive Titles: Rename recipes with descriptive titles that help you remember what they are (e.g., “Mom’s Chocolate Chip Cookies” instead of just “Cookies”).
Bookmark Sparingly: Only bookmark recipes you plan to make again. This keeps your Cookbook focused on true favorites.
Regular Cleanup: Periodically review your Recent Recipes and delete ones you won’t make again to keep your collection manageable.
Search by Ingredients: When searching, include ingredient names to find recipes that use specific items you have on hand.
