Grouped by Date

Tasks are organized into date sections for easy navigation:
1

Date headers

Full format: “Friday, March 04, 2026” for clear context
2

Task grouping

All tasks completed on the same date appear together
3

Reverse chronological order

Most recent completions appear at the top
4

Completion metadata

Each task retains its project, energy level, and other details

Date Grouping Logic

The Logbook uses the completedAt timestamp to group tasks:
  • Tasks are grouped by the date they were completed (not created)
  • If completedAt is missing, falls back to updatedAt or createdAt
  • Date keys are formatted as YYYY-MM-DD for reliable sorting
  • Display format uses full weekday and month names for readability

Viewing Completed Tasks

The Logbook provides a clean, focused view of your accomplishments:

Task Details

Each completed task shows its full title, project association, and energy indicator

Project Context

Colored project dots help you see which areas you’ve been productive in

Energy Patterns

Review which energy levels you complete most often

Infinite Scroll

If you haven’t completed any tasks yet, the Logbook shows an encouraging empty state:

Reviewing Past Accomplishments

The Logbook is a powerful tool for reflection and motivation:
End of day:
  • Scroll to today’s date
  • Review what you accomplished
  • Feel satisfaction from visible progress
  • Plan tomorrow based on completion patterns

Archive Management

The Logbook serves as your task archive with automatic management:

Automatic Archiving

1

Task completed

When you check off a task anywhere in Arre, its status changes to ‘completed’
2

Timestamp recorded

The completedAt field is set to the current date and time
3

Appears in Logbook

The task immediately appears in the Logbook under today’s date
4

Removed from other views

Completed tasks are filtered out of Today, Upcoming, Anytime, and Inbox

Uncompleting Tasks

Sometimes you need to uncomplete a task (checked it by accident, or it needs more work):
From the Logbook:Click the checkbox on a completed task to reactivate it. This will:
  • Set status back to ‘todo’
  • Clear the completedAt timestamp
  • Move the task back to its appropriate view (Today/Upcoming/Anytime)
  • Remove it from the Logbook

Visual Design

The Logbook embraces a clean, archival aesthetic:
  • Header icon: CheckSquare icon with title “Logbook”
  • Subtitle: “A history of everything you’ve completed”
  • Date headers: Subtle styling separates date groups
  • Completed tasks: Displayed with checkmarks and full task details
  • Muted styling: Completed tasks appear slightly less prominent than active tasks
Completed tasks maintain their visual identity (project colors, energy indicators) so you can analyze patterns even after completion.

Productivity Insights

Use the Logbook to extract valuable insights:
Count tasks per day/week to track your velocity:
  • High velocity days: 8+ tasks completed
  • Normal days: 4-7 tasks completed
  • Slow days: 1-3 tasks completed
Compare velocity to your energy and schedule patterns.
Review which projects are progressing:
  • Dominated by one project? Consider if that’s intentional
  • Projects with no completions? May need attention or archiving
  • Balanced completions across projects? Good multi-project management
Look at the energy indicators on completed tasks:
  • Mostly high (purple): Great deep work habits
  • Mostly neutral (yellow): Solid execution
  • Mostly low (green): May be avoiding challenging work
Aim for a balance that matches your goals.
Use the Logbook to maintain streaks:
  • Check if you completed tasks every day this week
  • Build momentum by ensuring daily completions
  • Even 1 task per day builds a powerful habit

Best Practices

Daily Shutdown Routine

End each day with a quick Logbook review:
  1. Open the Logbook at end of workday
  2. Scan today’s completions (should be first date section)
  3. Count your wins - even small progress counts
  4. Notice patterns - Did you complete high-focus work?
  5. Celebrate - Take 30 seconds to feel satisfied
  6. Close the app with a sense of accomplishment
This 2-minute routine builds momentum and positive reinforcement for your productivity system.

Weekly Review Integration

Incorporate the Logbook into your weekly review:
How many tasks did you complete this week? More than last week?

Motivation During Slumps

When you feel unproductive or stuck:
  1. Open the Logbook
  2. Scroll back 2-3 weeks
  3. Count everything you’ve completed
  4. Remember: You’ve done hard things before
  5. Start small today - one task to rebuild momentum
The Logbook is tangible proof of your capability. When motivation is low, let past wins remind you what you’re capable of.

Integration with Other Views

The Logbook works seamlessly with Arre’s other views:
ActionResult
Complete task in TodayAppears in Logbook under today’s date
Complete task in InboxCounts toward productivity metrics + Logbook
Complete task in AnytimeArchived in Logbook, maintains project association
Uncomplete from LogbookReturns to Anytime (or Today/Upcoming if dated)
