Track Your First Application

Get started with ApplyTrack by tracking your first job application. This guide walks you through the entire process from installation to viewing your application in the dashboard.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, ensure you have:
  • An active ApplyTrack account
  • Chrome, Firefox, or Edge browser
  • Access to any of the 200+ supported job boards (LinkedIn, Indeed, Glassdoor, etc.)

Installation

Install the Browser Extension

Navigate to your browser’s extension store and search for “ApplyTrack” or visit our website to download the extension directly.The extension will appear in your browser toolbar with the ApplyTrack icon.

Connect Your Account

Click the ApplyTrack extension icon and sign in with your credentials. The extension will automatically connect to your dashboard.
Pin the extension to your toolbar for easy access. You’ll see a small badge notification whenever an application is successfully captured.

Apply to Your First Job

Navigate to any supported job board and complete a job application as you normally would:
  1. Fill out the application form
  2. Upload your resume
  3. Click the “Submit” or “Apply” button
The moment you submit, ApplyTrack’s high-speed content script automatically detects and captures:
  • Company name
  • Job title/role
  • Application date and time
  • Job board source
  • Application URL

View Your Application in the Dashboard

Open your ApplyTrack dashboard at app.applytrack.ai/dashboard to see your first tracked application.Your application will appear in the “Recent Activity” section with:
  • Company logo initial (e.g., “A” for Anthropic)
  • Role title
  • Status badge showing “Applied”
  • Timestamp (e.g., “2h ago”)

Understanding Application Status Progression

Your applications automatically progress through these statuses:

Applied

Initial status when you submit an application. This appears immediately after the extension captures your submission.What to expect: Your application enters the company’s ATS (Applicant Tracking System). Response time varies by company.Dashboard display: Grey badge with “Applied” label

Interviewing

Status updates automatically when email sync detects interview scheduling communications.What to expect: You’ll receive interview invitations via email. Technical Round

Viewing Your Application Journey

Once your first application is tracked, explore these dashboard sections:

Total Applied Stats

  • Current count: See your total applications (e.g., 142 tracked)
  • Growth metric: “+12% month over month” shows your application velocity
  • Icon: Briefcase icon in blue
Maintain consistent application volume. The platform benchmarks show successful job seekers apply to 10-15 positions per week.

Active Pipeline

  • Current count: Applications in active discussion (e.g., 18 active)
  • Meaning: Applications past initial screening, requiring follow-up
  • Icon: Lightning bolt (Zap) icon in indigo

Recent Activity Timeline

Your dashboard displays the most recent applications with:
  • Company name and role
  • Current status
  • Time elapsed since submission
  • Quick access to application details

What if the extension doesn’t detect my application?

The extension automatically detects submissions on 200+ job boards. If an application isn’t captured:
  1. Ensure the extension is enabled and you’re logged in
  2. Check that you’re on a supported job board
  3. Manually add the application using the “New Track” button in Quick Commands

Can I edit application details?

Yes! Click any application in your Recent Activity list to edit:
  • Company name
  • Role title
  • Status
  • Application notes
