SystemWebView

Advanced users can also install Cromite as a SystemWebView replacement:
SystemWebView files are created by an additional build process and may not be immediately available after a new release.

Installation Methods

F-Droid Repository (Android)

For automatic updates on Android without Google Play, add Cromite’s official F-Droid repository: Repository URL:

Open F-Droid

Launch the F-Droid app on your Android device.

Add Repository

Navigate to Settings → Repositories → Add Repository (+ icon).

Paste Repository URL

Paste the Cromite repository URL including the fingerprint parameter.

Update and Install

Update the repository list and search for Cromite to install.

Built-in Auto-Update (Android)

Cromite includes a built-in auto-update feature that checks for new releases every 3 days.
Auto-update is enabled by default since version 94.0.4606.109. You’ll be asked whether to activate it during first startup.
The updater: You can enable or disable this feature in Settings → About Cromite.

Each release includes additional files for developers and advanced users:
  • Debugging symbols: arm64_symbols.zip
  • ProGuard mapping files: *.apk.mapping (for Java stacktrace deobfuscation)
  • Build analysis: arm64_ninja_log_trace.html
  • Vanilla Chromium: For testing and comparison purposes
