Quick Start

Get Cromite up and running in minutes

Download Cromite for your platform

Visit the GitHub Releases page and download the appropriate package:
  • Android: arm64_ChromePublic.apk (for most devices), arm_ChromePublic.apk, or x64_ChromePublic.apk
  • Windows: chrome-win.zip
  • Linux: chrome-lin64.tar.gz
For Android, you can also use the official F-Droid repository for automatic updates.

Install the browser

  1. Enable installation from unknown sources in your device settings
  2. Open the downloaded APK file
  3. Follow the installation prompts
  4. Grant necessary permissions when prompted

Configure your privacy settings

On first launch, Cromite will ask about auto-updates and other privacy settings. Review and configure:
  • Auto-updates: Enable to receive notifications about new releases (Android only)
  • Ad blocking: Pre-configured with default filter lists at chrome://adblock
  • Search engine: Choose your preferred search engine (defaults are privacy-respecting)
  • JIT compilation: Disabled by default for security - enable per-site if needed
Visit chrome://flags to explore advanced privacy and security features, including always-incognito mode and external intent blocking.
