This guide will walk you through creating a new account in SubWallet Extension. When you create a new account, SubWallet generates a 12 or 24-word seed phrase that serves as the master key to your wallet.
1

Open the account creation screen

Click the Create Account button or navigate to Accounts > New Seed Phrase from the extension menu.
2

Review the security warning

Read the security warning carefully. Your seed phrase is the only way to recover your account, so it’s critical to store it safely.
Never share your seed phrase with anyone. SubWallet will never ask for your seed phrase. Anyone with access to your seed phrase has complete control over your funds.
3

Save your seed phrase

SubWallet will display a 12 or 24-word seed phrase. You have two options to save it:
  • Write it down: Copy each word in order on paper and store it in a secure location
  • Download it: Click the download button to save it as a file (ensure you store the file securely)
The words are displayed in a specific order. You must record them in the exact sequence shown, as the order matters for account recovery.
4

Confirm you've saved your seed phrase

Once you’ve securely stored your seed phrase, click the I’ve kept it somewhere safe button to proceed.
5

Name your account

Enter a memorable name for your account in the Account Name modal. This name helps you identify the account within SubWallet but doesn’t affect your on-chain identity.
Choose a descriptive name like “Main Wallet” or “Trading Account” to easily distinguish between multiple accounts.
6

Wait for account creation

SubWallet will create your account and generate addresses for all supported blockchain networks. This process may take a few moments.
7

Start using your new account

Once creation is complete, your new account is ready to use. You can now receive tokens, connect to dApps, and manage your crypto assets.

Account Types

SubWallet supports two types of accounts when creating from a seed phrase:
  • Unified Account: A single seed phrase that works across all supported chains (recommended for most users)
  • Solo Account: Chain-specific accounts for specialized use cases

Best Practices

Write your seed phrase on paper and store it in a secure location like a safe. Never store it digitally where it could be hacked.
Consider creating multiple copies of your seed phrase and storing them in different secure locations as backup.
Before sending significant funds to your new account, test the recovery process with your seed phrase to ensure it works correctly.
