Welcome to Flow Browser

When you first launch Flow Browser, you’ll be guided through a quick onboarding process to personalize your browsing experience. This process takes less than a minute and helps you configure the browser to match your preferences.

Onboarding Stages

The onboarding wizard consists of several stages that guide you through the essential setup:

Welcome Screen

You’ll be greeted with the Flow Browser logo and a welcome message. Click Get Started to begin the setup process.This screen introduces you to Flow Browser and prepares you for the customization steps ahead.

Create Your First Space

Spaces are Flow Browser’s unique way of organizing your browsing sessions. During onboarding, you’ll create your initial space through three sub-steps:

Name Your Space

Choose a name for your first space (e.g., “Work”, “Personal”, “Research”).

Choose a Space Icon

Select an icon that visually represents your space. Flow Browser provides a variety of icon options to choose from.

Select Space Colors

Customize your space with a color scheme. The colors you choose will be applied to the space’s theme, making it easy to identify at a glance.
Spaces help you separate different browsing contexts. You can create additional spaces later from the settings.

Select Browser Icon

Personalize Flow Browser by choosing your preferred application icon.
  • Browse through available icon designs created by various artists
  • Select the icon that best matches your style
  • The selected icon will be applied to your system immediately
Icon customization is platform-dependent. If this feature isn’t supported on your operating system, you can skip this step.

Configure New Tab Mode

Choose how new tabs should open in Flow Browser:
New tabs open with the command palette (omnibox) focused, allowing you to immediately start typing to search or navigate. This is the default and recommended mode for power users.
You can change this setting later in Settings > General > New Tab Mode.

You're All Set!

Once you complete all the steps, you’ll see a success screen confirming that Flow Browser is ready to use.Click Start Browsing to open the main browser window and begin your privacy-focused browsing experience.

Restarting Onboarding

If you want to go through the onboarding process again:
  1. Open Settings (Cmd/Ctrl + ,)
  2. Navigate to General section
  3. Find the Reset Onboarding card
  4. Click the reset button to restart the onboarding wizard
Restarting onboarding will not delete your existing spaces, settings, or browsing data. It simply allows you to reconfigure your initial preferences.

What Happens After Onboarding?

After completing the onboarding:
  • Your first space is created and activated
  • Flow Browser opens with your selected settings
  • You can immediately start browsing with privacy-focused features enabled
  • All customizations can be modified later in Settings
