How to Track Updates

1

Check FIA Official Communications

All regulation updates are published through official FIA channels and distributed to teams via secure portals.
2

Monitor Issue Numbers

Each PDF filename contains the issue number and publication date. Always verify you’re using the current issue.
3

Review Technical Directives

Between regulation issues, the FIA may issue Technical Directives (TDs) that clarify or temporarily modify regulations.
4

Attend Technical Meetings

Teams participate in regular technical working groups where regulation interpretations are discussed.

Regulation Amendment Process

Process: Technical clarifications or corrections
  • Identified through team queries or FIA review
  • Can be issued via Technical Directive
  • May be incorporated into next issue publication
  • Generally don’t require World Motor Sport Council approval
Process: Substantive rule changes
  • Require team consultation
  • Must be approved by FIA Formula 1 Commission
  • Typically require World Motor Sport Council approval
  • Published as new issue with updated issue number
  • May have minimum notice periods before taking effect
Process: Safety-critical or urgent modifications
