Getting Started with Birdflop Hosting

Get your Minecraft server up and running in minutes with this step-by-step guide.

Before You Begin

Make sure you have a valid email address for account creation and a payment method ready.

Step 1: Choose Your Plan

Visit the Plans Page

Navigate to the Birdflop plans page to view available hosting options.

Select Your Region

Choose between:
  • EU Premium: Falkenstein, Germany (Ryzen 9 5950X)
  • US Premium: NYC / Ashburn VA (Ryzen 9 3900XT+)
Select the region closest to most of your players for the best latency.

Choose RAM Amount

Select the amount of RAM based on your expected player count:
  • 4-6 GB: Small servers (1-20 players)
  • 8-12 GB: Medium servers (20-50 players)
  • 16-20 GB: Large servers (50+ players)
You can always upgrade later, so start small if you’re unsure.

Configure Server Details

Enter your server information:
  • Server Name: A friendly name for your server (e.g., “My Survival Server”)
  • Server Description: Optional description for identification

Add to Cart

Click the “Add to cart” button to proceed to checkout.

Step 2: Create Your Account

If you’re a new customer, you’ll need to create an account:

Enter Account Details

Provide:
  • Email address
  • Password
  • Full name
  • Billing address

Verify Your Email

Check your inbox for a verification email and click the confirmation link.

Complete Payment

Choose your payment method and complete the transaction.Accepted payment methods:
  • Credit/Debit cards
  • PayPal
  • Cryptocurrency
Your server will be automatically provisioned within seconds of payment confirmation.

Step 3: Access Your Server Panel

Check Your Email

You’ll receive an email with:
  • Panel login URL: https://client.birdflop.com
  • Your server details
  • Getting started information

Log In to the Panel

  1. Visit https://client.birdflop.com
  2. Enter your email and password
  3. You’ll see your server dashboard

Locate Your Server

Click on your server name to access the control panel.

Step 4: Configure Your Server

Choose Your Server Type

Birdflop uses an “egg” system to support different server types:

Select Your Minecraft Version

  1. Navigate to the Startup tab
  2. Find the Minecraft Version field
  3. Enter your desired version (e.g., 1.21.4, 1.20.1)
  4. Restart your server for changes to take effect
The server will automatically download the correct server JAR file for your specified version.

Step 5: Start Your Server

Go to Console Tab

Click the Console tab in your server panel.

Start the Server

Click the green Start button.The server will:
  1. Download necessary files
  2. Generate world and configuration files
  3. Start accepting connections
This process takes 30-60 seconds on first startup.

Accept the EULA

On first start, you’ll need to accept the Minecraft EULA:
  1. The server will stop after generating files
  2. Go to the Files tab
  3. Find and edit eula.txt
  4. Change eula=false to eula=true
  5. Save the file
  6. Return to Console and click Start again

Wait for Startup

Watch the console for the message:
[Server thread/INFO]: Done! For help, type "help"
Your server is now online!

Step 6: Connect to Your Server

Find Your Server IP

Your server IP is displayed at the top of the panel.Format: node.birdflop.com:12345
Plans with 8GB+ RAM include a dedicated IP without a port number.

Launch Minecraft

  1. Open Minecraft Java Edition
  2. Click Multiplayer
  3. Click Add Server
  4. Enter your server IP
  5. Click Done

Join Your Server

Double-click your server to connect!

Common Issues

Common causes:
  • EULA not accepted: Edit eula.txt and set eula=true
  • Incorrect Java version: Some versions require Java 17 or 21
  • Corrupted files: Try reinstalling from the Settings tab
Check the console for specific error messages.
Troubleshooting steps:
  1. Verify the server is running (green status in panel)
  2. Double-check the IP address and port
  3. Make sure you’re using Java Edition (not Bedrock)
  4. Check if your firewall is blocking Minecraft
  5. Verify you’re using the correct Minecraft version
Solutions:
  • Reduce view-distance in server.properties
  • Remove unnecessary plugins
  • Upgrade to a plan with more RAM
  • Optimize your server settings
Performance tips:
  • Use Paper instead of Vanilla or Spigot
  • Optimize server.properties and paper-global.yml
  • Use performance monitoring plugins
  • Reduce view-distance and simulation-distance
  • Remove laggy plugins
