Syncing with TMDB

Your watchlist and favorites automatically sync with TMDB:

From Popcorn Vision to TMDB

From TMDB to Popcorn Vision

Changes on TMDB sync to Popcorn Vision when you refresh or log in
Sync happens in real-time for actions you take in Popcorn Vision. If you make changes on TMDB.org, refresh your Popcorn Vision profile to see updates.

Best Practices

Regularly review your watchlist and remove items you:
  • Have already watched
  • Are no longer interested in
  • Should move to favorites
This keeps your watchlist actionable and focused.
Build your favorites collection as a curated list of movies and shows you’d recommend. It becomes a great reference when:
  • Friends ask for recommendations
  • You want to rewatch something
  • You’re showing off your taste in films
Add items to favorites AND rate them. This:
  • Helps you remember why it’s a favorite
  • Contributes to TMDB’s community ratings
  • Lets you sort favorites by your personal ratings
Add upcoming movies and shows to your watchlist as soon as they’re announced. Then:
  • Sort by release date to see what’s coming soon
  • Get reminded when scrolling your watchlist
  • Be ready when they’re released

Privacy & Visibility

Your Popcorn Vision watchlist and favorites are private to you. However, since they sync with TMDB, your TMDB privacy settings apply:
  • By default, TMDB lists are public
  • You can change privacy settings at TMDB.org
  • Check TMDB’s privacy documentation for details
While Popcorn Vision doesn’t have built-in sharing, your favorites are synced to TMDB where they may be visible based on your TMDB privacy settings.

Troubleshooting

If the watchlist or favorite button doesn’t work:
  1. Make sure you’re logged in
  2. Check your internet connection
  3. Wait a moment - it may be processing
  4. Refresh the page and try again
  5. Log out and log back in
If content you added doesn’t show in your profile:
  1. Refresh the profile page
  2. Check the content type filter (Movies vs. TV)
  3. Verify the item was successfully added (button filled)
  4. Log out and log in to refresh your session
If your Popcorn Vision lists don’t match TMDB.org:
  1. Give it a few minutes for sync
  2. Refresh both pages
  3. Log out and log back in on both platforms
  4. Verify you’re using the same TMDB account
If clicking the filled icon doesn’t remove the item:
  1. Make sure you’re clicking the correct icon
  2. Wait for the loading spinner to complete
  3. Refresh the page to verify the change
  4. Try again from the detail page instead of profile
