How to Place Orders

Selecting an Outcome

For binary markets, choose between two options:
  • Yes: You believe the event will happen
  • No: You believe the event will not happen
The price you pay reflects the current market probability of that outcome.

Order Panel

The order panel displays:
  • Outcome Selection: Toggle between Yes and No
  • Order Type: Choose between Market or Limit order
  • Amount: Enter the number of shares or USD value
  • Price: See the price per share
  • Estimated PnL: Potential profit if you win
  • Fees: Trading fees applied to the order

Setting Your Trade Size

You can specify your trade size in two ways: By Shares
Shares: 100
Price: $0.65 per share
Total Cost: $65.00
By USD Amount
Amount: $65.00
Price: $0.65 per share
Shares: 100

Order Types

Market Orders

Market orders execute immediately at the best available price:
  • Fast execution: Completes instantly
  • Price impact: May get filled at multiple prices
  • Best for: Liquid markets where you want immediate execution
Market orders in low-liquidity markets may execute at worse prices than expected. Check available liquidity before placing large market orders.

Limit Orders

Limit orders execute only at your specified price or better:
  • Price control: You set the maximum/minimum price
  • May not fill: Order waits until your price is available
  • Best for: Getting a specific price or improving the market
  • Minimum: 100 shares required for limit orders
Use limit orders in the order book to get better prices and avoid slippage on larger trades.

Order Book Trading

The order book shows all open limit orders:
  • Bid side: Buy orders (green)
  • Ask side: Sell orders (red)
  • Click a level: Auto-fills your order at that price
  • Depth: Shows total shares at each price
Use the order book to:
  • See available liquidity
  • Place limit orders at strategic prices
  • Fill existing orders for instant execution

Understanding Prices and Probabilities

Price as Probability

Share prices represent the market’s probability assessment:
  • $0.60 Yes share = 60% probability the event happens
  • $0.40 No share = 40% probability the event doesn’t happen
  • Yes + No prices always equal $1.00

Price Movement

Prices change based on trading activity:
  • More Yes buyers → Yes price increases
  • More No buyers → No price increases (Yes decreases)
  • Prices update in real-time with each trade

Reading the Chart

The price chart shows historical probability:
  • Y-axis: Price (probability)
  • X-axis: Time
  • Green trend: Yes probability increasing
  • Red trend: No probability increasing
  • Volume bars: Trading activity over time

Order Execution

Confirming Orders

Before execution, review:
  • Outcome (Yes or No)
  • Number of shares
  • Price per share
  • Total cost including fees
  • Potential profit if you win

Transaction Signing

Orders require blockchain transactions:
  1. Review the transaction in your wallet
  2. Confirm to submit the order
  3. Wait for blockchain confirmation
  4. Order appears in your open orders or positions
First-time trading may require additional approval transactions to enable token spending.

Order Status

Track your order status:
  • Pending: Waiting for blockchain confirmation
  • Open: Limit order waiting to be filled
  • Filled: Order successfully executed
  • Partially Filled: Limit order partially executed
  • Cancelled: Order was cancelled

PnL Tracking

Understanding Profit and Loss

Your potential profit depends on:
  • Entry price: What you paid per share
  • Current price: What the share is worth now
  • Outcome: Whether your prediction is correct

PnL Calculation

If You Win:
Shares owned: 100
Entry price: $0.60 per share
Cost: $60.00
Payout: $100.00 (100 shares × $1.00)
Profit: $40.00
ROI: 66.7%
If You Lose:
Cost: $60.00
Payout: $0.00
Loss: -$60.00
ROI: -100%

Selling Before Resolution

You can sell your shares before the market resolves:
  • Lock in profits if price moved in your favor
  • Cut losses if price moved against you
  • Exit positions without waiting for resolution
Current PnL = (Current Price - Entry Price) × Shares

Unrealized vs Realized PnL

Unrealized PnL: Profit/loss on open positions
  • Changes with market price
  • Not locked in until you sell
  • Shown in your portfolio
Realized PnL: Profit/loss on closed positions
  • Locked in from sales or redemptions
  • Added to your trading history
  • Included in leaderboard rankings

Trading Strategies

Quick Flip Trading

Buy low, sell high before resolution:
  1. Identify mispriced markets
  2. Take a position
  3. Sell when price moves in your favor
  4. Repeat

Event-Based Trading

Trade around news and events:
  • Buy before positive news
  • Sell before negative news
  • React quickly to breaking information

Hold Until Resolution

Buy and hold for maximum profit:
  • Identify high-confidence predictions
  • Buy shares and hold
  • Redeem for full $1.00 if you win
  • Accept total loss if you’re wrong

Dollar-Cost Averaging

Spread entries over time:
  • Buy shares gradually
  • Average out price volatility
  • Reduce timing risk
  • Build positions steadily

Trading Fees

Fees apply to all trades:
  • Trading fee: Percentage of trade value
  • Network fees: Blockchain gas costs
  • Affiliate fees: If you used a referral link
Fees are displayed before confirming each order.
Limit orders help reduce slippage and can improve your effective price even after fees.
