Page Assist is committed to protecting your privacy. This extension is built with a local-first approach, ensuring your data stays under your control.

Data Collection

Page Assist does not collect any user data. All operations and data storage occur locally within your browser. There are no analytics, tracking, or telemetry services integrated into the extension.

Browser Permissions

The extension requires the following permissions to function:
  • Notifications: To provide system notifications for important events
  • Website Content Access: Required for the chat-with-webpage functionality to analyze page content
  • Unlimited Storage: Used to store chat history locally in your browser
  • Active Tab: To ensure the extension is active on the current tab and capture screenshots when needed
  • Scripting: Enables the chat-with-webpage functionality
  • Web Requests: To modify headers of the local server to avoid CORS issues

Page Share Feature

When using the Page Share feature:
  • Data sharing only occurs when explicitly connecting to external sources
  • Self-hosting option is available for complete data control
  • Shared chats can be permanently deleted from the server at any time
  • No data is retained after deletion
  • This feature can be disabled from the settings if you prefer not to use it

Data Storage

  • All chat history and settings are stored locally in your browser
  • No data is transmitted to external servers unless explicitly initiated by the user through the Page Share feature
  • Users maintain full control over their data
  • You can clear all data at any time from your browser settings

Third-Party Services

Page Assist does not integrate with any third-party analytics or tracking services. The extension only communicates with:
  • Your locally running AI models (Ollama, LM Studio, etc.)
  • OpenAI API compatible endpoints that you configure
  • The Page Share server (only when you explicitly use this feature)

Changes to Privacy Policy

We reserve the right to update this privacy policy as needed. Users will be notified of any significant changes through the extension or our documentation.
