This page describes planned features for the Syngenta Warehouse Management System. The application is currently in early development. Authentication features are not yet implemented.

Overview

The Syngenta Warehouse Management System will implement secure authentication to protect inventory data and ensure only authorized users can access warehouse operations.
Authentication is handled at the application level with role-based access control to ensure data security and compliance with Syngenta’s security policies.

Getting Started with Authentication

1

Access the Login Page

Navigate to the Syngenta Warehouse Management System URL provided by your administrator. You’ll be presented with the login interface featuring the Syngenta branding.
The login page uses Syngenta’s brand colors (Purple #702F8A and Green #00A04A) with an Apple-inspired minimalist design for a clean, professional experience.
2

Enter Your Credentials

Enter your assigned username and password in the respective fields.
  • Username: Your company email or assigned user ID
  • Password: Your secure password (minimum 8 characters)
Passwords are case-sensitive. Ensure your Caps Lock is off when entering credentials.
3

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

If 2FA is enabled for your account, you’ll be prompted to enter a verification code sent to your registered device or email.Enter the 6-digit code within the time limit (typically 5 minutes).
4

Access Granted

Upon successful authentication, you’ll be redirected to your personalized dashboard based on your assigned role and permissions.

Security Features

Password Requirements

To maintain security, passwords must meet the following criteria:
  • Minimum 8 characters in length
  • At least one uppercase letter (A-Z)
  • At least one lowercase letter (a-z)
  • At least one number (0-9)
  • At least one special character (@, #, $, %, etc.)
Avoid using common passwords, personal information, or previously compromised passwords. The system will reject weak passwords during account creation or password changes.

Session Management

The system implements secure session management to protect your account:
  • Auto-logout: Sessions automatically expire after 30 minutes of inactivity
  • Secure tokens: Authentication uses encrypted tokens that cannot be intercepted
  • Single session: Only one active session per user (concurrent logins are prevented)
If you attempt to log in from a new device or location, you may be required to complete additional verification steps.

Account Lockout Protection

To prevent unauthorized access attempts:
  • After 5 failed login attempts, your account will be temporarily locked for 15 minutes
  • After 10 failed attempts within 24 hours, your account requires administrator unlock
  • All failed login attempts are logged for security auditing

Common Authentication Tasks

First-Time Login

When logging in for the first time:
1

Use Temporary Password

Log in with the temporary password provided by your administrator via secure email.
2

Change Password

You’ll be immediately prompted to create a new, secure password following the password requirements.
3

Setup 2FA (If Required)

Configure two-factor authentication by linking your mobile device or email for verification codes.
4

Complete Profile

Add any additional profile information requested before accessing the main system.

Resetting Your Password

If you’ve forgotten your password:
  1. Click the “Forgot Password?” link on the login page
  2. Enter your registered email address
  3. Check your email for a password reset link (valid for 1 hour)
  4. Click the link and create a new password
  5. Log in with your new credentials
Password reset links expire after one use or 1 hour, whichever comes first. If the link expires, request a new one.

Updating Your Password

To change your password while logged in:
  1. Navigate to Profile Settings from the user menu
  2. Select Security tab
  3. Click Change Password
  4. Enter your current password
  5. Enter and confirm your new password
  6. Click Update Password
After changing your password, you’ll be logged out and required to log in again with the new credentials.

Authentication Troubleshooting

”Invalid Credentials” Error

  • Verify your username is entered correctly
  • Check that Caps Lock is off
  • Ensure you’re using your current password (not an old one)
  • Try resetting your password if you’re unsure
  • Contact your administrator if the issue persists

Account Locked Message

  • Wait 15 minutes if locked due to failed attempts
  • Contact your system administrator for immediate unlock
  • Verify you’re using the correct credentials before retry
  • Consider resetting your password if you’ve forgotten it

2FA Code Not Received

  • Check your spam/junk folder for the verification email
  • Ensure your mobile device has network connectivity
  • Verify the registered phone number/email is correct
  • Request a new code using the “Resend Code” option
  • Contact support if codes consistently fail to arrive

Session Expired Error

  • This is normal after 30 minutes of inactivity
  • Simply log in again to create a new session
  • Ensure you save your work regularly to prevent data loss
  • Adjust your work patterns to stay within the session time limit

Best Practices

Password Security

  • Never share your password with anyone, including administrators
  • Use unique passwords - don’t reuse passwords from other systems
  • Change regularly - update your password every 90 days
  • Use a password manager to generate and store complex passwords
  • Enable 2FA for an additional layer of security

Secure Access

  • Always log out when leaving your workstation
  • Lock your computer when stepping away temporarily
  • Use secure networks - avoid public Wi-Fi for accessing the system
  • Keep devices updated with the latest security patches
  • Report suspicious activity to your administrator immediately
If you suspect your account has been compromised, change your password immediately and report the incident to your security team.

Role-Based Access

Authentication is just the first step. Once logged in, your access to features and data is controlled by your assigned role. See the User Roles Guide for detailed information about permissions and access levels.

Support

If you experience authentication issues that cannot be resolved using this guide:
  • Contact your system administrator
  • Email support at: [email protected]
  • Call the IT helpdesk during business hours
When contacting support, have your username and employee ID ready. Never share your password with support staff.
