The Reports page gives you a comprehensive financial snapshot:

Income & Expenses

Track how much you earn and spend over time

Net Worth

Monitor your total assets minus liabilities

Investment Performance

Analyze portfolio returns and holdings

Spending Trends

Identify patterns in your spending behavior

Time Period Selection

Analyze different timeframes:

Preset Periods

  • Monthly - Current month (default)
  • Quarterly - Current quarter (3 months)
  • YTD (Year to Date) - January 1 to today
  • Last 6 Months - Rolling 6-month window

Custom Range

Select any start and end date:
  1. Choose Custom from period selector
  2. Pick start date
  3. Pick end date
  4. View reports for that exact timeframe
Use custom ranges for specific analysis like “vacation months” or “before/after job change.”

Net Worth Report

Overview Metrics

At the top of the report:
  • Current Net Worth - Total assets minus total liabilities
  • Period Change - How much your net worth changed in the selected period
  • Total Assets - Sum of all asset account balances
  • Total Liabilities - Sum of all credit cards, loans, and debt

Assets Breakdown

See assets grouped by type:
  • Depository (checking, savings)
  • Investment (brokerage, retirement)
  • Crypto (exchange accounts, wallets)
  • Property (real estate, vehicles)
  • Other Assets
Each group shows:
  • Total value
  • Percentage of total assets
  • Trend indicator (up/down from previous period)

Liabilities Breakdown

Liabilities grouped by:
  • Credit Cards
  • Loans (mortgage, auto, student, personal)
  • Other Liabilities
Each shows balance and percentage of total debt. View historical net worth:
  • Time series chart - Net worth over the selected period
  • Period comparison - Current vs previous period
  • Growth rate - Percentage increase/decrease
Net worth increases from:
  1. Income exceeding expenses (savings)
  2. Investment gains
  3. Property value appreciation
Net worth decreases from:
  1. Expenses exceeding income
  2. Investment losses
  3. Taking on new debt

Income Statement

Income Summary

  • Total Income - All income in the period
  • Income Change - Compared to previous period
  • Income by Category - Salary, freelance, investments, gifts, etc.

Common income categories:

  • Investment Income (dividends, interest)
  • Rental Income

Each category shows:
  • Total amount
  • Percentage of total income

  • Total Expenses - All spending in the period
  • Expense Change - Compared to previous period

Expand categories to see subcategories (e.g., “Transportation” → “Gas”, “Parking”, “Public Transit”).

Net Savings

Calculated as: Income - Expenses
  • Positive - You saved money (income exceeded expenses)
  • Negative - You overspent (expenses exceeded income)
  • Savings Rate - Net Savings / Income × 100%

Monthly Breakdown

View spending patterns month-by-month:
  • Income bars - Green bars showing monthly income
  • Expense bars - Red bars showing monthly expenses
  • Net line - Line chart showing monthly surplus/deficit
  • Current month indicator - Highlights the current month
For each spending category:
  • Trend line - Spending over time
  • Average - Mean monthly spending
  • Median - Typical month (less affected by outliers)
  • Min/Max - Lowest and highest months
Use median instead of average to understand “typical” spending. Average is skewed by irregular large purchases.

Transactions Breakdown

Detailed transaction analysis in the selected period:

Grouped View

Transactions grouped by:
  • Category - All transactions in each category
  • Type - Income vs Expense
  • Subcategories - Drill down into subcategory details
Each group shows:
  • Total amount
  • Transaction count
  • Percentage of total

Sort by:
  • Amount (highest to lowest, or vice versa)

Investment Performance

Portfolio Metrics

For users with investment accounts:
  • Portfolio Value - Total value of all investment accounts
  • Unrealized Gains - Current gains on holdings you still own
  • Realized Gains - Gains from securities sold in the period
  • Total Return - Unrealized + Realized gains

Top Holdings

See your largest positions:
  • Security name and ticker
  • Quantity owned
  • Market value
  • Gain/loss
  • Portfolio weight (% of total)

Investment Flows

Track contributions and withdrawals:
  • Contributions - Money you added to investment accounts
  • Withdrawals - Money you took out
  • Net Flow - Contributions - Withdrawals

Comparing Periods

Period-over-Period Analysis

When you select a period, Sure automatically compares to the previous period of equal length: Example: Viewing March 2024?
  • Current period: Mar 1-31, 2024
  • Previous period: Feb 1-29, 2024
Metrics show:
  • Current period value
  • Previous period value
  • Change ($ and %)
  • Trend indicator (↑ or ↓)

Custom Comparisons

For custom date ranges:
  1. Select your primary period
  2. Sure calculates a comparison period of the same length
  3. Adjust comparison dates if needed
Example: Want to compare Q1 2024 to Q1 2023?
  1. Set primary period: Jan 1 - Mar 31, 2024
  2. Set comparison: Jan 1 - Mar 31, 2023

Budget Performance

If viewing the current month:
  • Budget Progress - Percentage of budget spent
  • Budget Status - On track, over budget, or under budget
  • Available Budget - How much you have left to spend
  • Days Remaining - Days left in the month
Budget metrics only appear when viewing the current month. Historical months show actual spending without budget comparison.

Check reports weekly to catch spending trends early, before they affect your budget.

Frequently Asked Questions

Transfers between your accounts are excluded from income and expense totals to avoid double-counting. Reports only show money coming in from external sources or going out to external payees.
Tags are on the roadmap! For now, use the transaction breakdown filters to view specific tags, then export for custom analysis.

Reports show gross income (before taxes and deductions). Your take-home pay is less after taxes, insurance, and retirement contributions are deducted.
Yes! In the transaction breakdown, click a category to see all transactions in it, grouped by merchant. This shows where you’re spending within each category.
‘Other’ includes uncategorized transactions or very small categories. If you’re seeing a lot in Other, review and categorize those transactions.
