Managing Connections

All social platform connections are managed through the Connections page in your ClypAI dashboard at /connections.

Adding a New Connection

Navigate to Connections

Go to the Connections page from your dashboard sidebar.

Click Add Connection

Click the “Add Connection” button at the bottom of your connections list.

Select Platform

Choose the social platform you want to connect from the available options:
  • TikTok
  • Instagram Business
  • YouTube
  • X/Twitter

Authorize Access

You’ll be redirected to the platform’s authorization page. Grant the necessary permissions for ClypAI to publish on your behalf.

Confirm Connection

After authorization, you’ll be redirected back to ClypAI. Your new connection will appear in the connections list.
Each platform may require different permission scopes. ClypAI only requests the minimum permissions necessary to publish content.

Platform-Specific Details

TikTok

Connection Requirements:
  • TikTok account in good standing
  • Access to TikTok’s Content Posting API
Supported Features:
  • Post vertical videos (9:16 aspect ratio)
  • Add captions and hashtags
  • Schedule posts for later
Video Specifications:
  • Format: MP4
  • Resolution: 1080x1920 recommended
  • Duration: 3 seconds to 10 minutes
  • File size: Up to 287.6 MB
TikTok has strict content moderation policies. Videos that violate community guidelines will be rejected by their API.

Instagram

Account Type Required:
  • Instagram Business or Creator account
  • Connected to a Facebook Page
Supported Content Types:
  • Reels: 9:16 vertical videos, 3-90 seconds
  • Stories: 9:16 vertical videos, up to 60 seconds
  • Feed Posts: Square (1:1) or vertical (4:5) videos
Video Specifications:
  • Format: MP4 or MOV
  • Codec: H.264
  • Frame rate: 30 FPS recommended
  • Maximum file size: 100 MB for Reels, 4 GB for feed posts
For best results, use 1080x1920 resolution for Reels and Stories, and 1080x1350 for feed posts.

YouTube

Connection Requirements:
  • YouTube channel with upload permissions
  • Google account with YouTube Data API access
Supported Content Types:
  • Shorts: Vertical videos under 60 seconds
  • Regular Videos: Any length and aspect ratio
Video Specifications:
  • Format: MP4, MOV, AVI, WMV, FLV, 3GPP, WebM, DNxHR, ProRes, CineForm, HEVC (h265)
  • Resolution: Up to 4K (3840x2160)
  • Frame rate: 24, 25, 30, 48, 50, or 60 FPS
  • Maximum file size: 256 GB
Metadata Options:
  • Title (max 100 characters)
  • Description (max 5,000 characters)
  • Tags
  • Category
  • Privacy settings (public, unlisted, private)

X (Twitter)

Connection Requirements:
  • X account with video upload permissions
  • X API access (provided through ClypAI integration)
Supported Features:
  • Post videos up to 2 minutes and 20 seconds
  • Add tweet text and mentions
  • Include multiple videos in threads
Video Specifications:
  • Format: MP4 or MOV
  • Resolution: 1920x1200 or 1200x1900 recommended
  • Aspect ratio: 1:2.39 to 2.39:1
  • Frame rate: 40 FPS max
  • Maximum file size: 512 MB
X Premium subscribers can upload longer videos (up to 3 hours). Standard accounts are limited to 2 minutes and 20 seconds.

Connection Status & Management

Each connected account displays the following information:
  • Username: The connected account’s username
  • Platform: The social media platform
  • Status: Active or disconnected
  • Connected Date: When the connection was first established
  • Last Updated: When the connection was last refreshed

Refreshing Connections

Access tokens may expire over time. If a connection shows as disconnected:
  1. Click on the connection in your Connections list
  2. Select “Refresh Connection”
  3. Re-authorize access if prompted

Removing Connections

To remove a social platform connection:
  1. Navigate to the Connections page
  2. Click on the connection you want to remove
  3. Select “Remove Connection”
  4. Confirm the removal
Removing a connection will prevent ClypAI from publishing to that account. Scheduled posts for that platform will be cancelled.

Once platforms are connected, publishing is streamlined:

Use ClypAI’s AI-powered tools to create your video clip.

Select Platforms

Choose which connected platforms to publish to. You can publish to multiple platforms simultaneously.

Customize Per Platform

Adjust captions, hashtags, and metadata for each platform. ClypAI automatically optimizes video format and aspect ratio.

Schedule or Publish

Publish immediately or schedule for a specific date and time.

Monitor Status

Track publishing status in your Projects or Metrics dashboard.

Best Practices

  • TikTok: Always use 9:16 vertical
  • Instagram Reels: 9:16 vertical
  • Instagram Feed: 1:1 square or 4:5 vertical
  • YouTube Shorts: 9:16 vertical
  • YouTube Videos: 16:9 horizontal
  • X (Twitter): 16:9 horizontal or 9:16 vertical
ClypAI automatically detects and converts videos to the optimal aspect ratio for each platform.
Each platform has different character limits and hashtag best practices:
  • TikTok: 2,200 characters, 3-5 hashtags recommended
  • Instagram: 2,200 characters, 5-10 hashtags recommended
  • YouTube: 5,000 characters for description, tags optional
  • X: 280 characters per tweet, 1-2 hashtags recommended
Use platform-specific caption fields in ClypAI to optimize for each audience.
Schedule posts during peak engagement times for each platform:
  • TikTok: 6 PM - 10 PM local time
  • Instagram: 11 AM - 1 PM, 7 PM - 9 PM
  • YouTube: 2 PM - 4 PM on weekdays
  • X: 8 AM - 10 AM, 12 PM - 1 PM, 5 PM - 6 PM
These times vary by audience and industry. Monitor your analytics to find your optimal posting times.
Always follow each platform’s community guidelines:
  • Avoid copyrighted content without permission
  • Respect trademark and intellectual property rights
  • Follow content policies regarding violence, adult content, and misinformation
  • Include appropriate content warnings when necessary
Violations may result in content removal or account suspension.

Troubleshooting

Connection Failed

Issue: Unable to connect a social platform account Solutions:
  • Ensure your account meets the platform’s requirements (e.g., Instagram Business account)
  • Check that you granted all requested permissions
  • Verify your account is in good standing with the platform
  • Try disconnecting and reconnecting the account

Upload Failed

Issue: Video upload to platform failed Solutions:
  • Check video meets platform specifications (file size, duration, format)
  • Verify your connection is still active
  • Ensure your account has upload permissions
  • Check platform status for any outages

Token Expired

Issue: “Token expired” or “Authentication failed” error Solutions:
  • Refresh the connection from the Connections page
  • Re-authorize access to the platform
  • Check if you revoked ClypAI’s access in the platform’s settings
