The WhatsApp bot works immediately for general questions. To access your personal knowledge base, you’ll need to connect it to your Khoj Cloud account.
Connect Your Account
To chat with your own notes and documents:Create Khoj Cloud Account
Sign up at app.khoj.dev if you haven’t already.
Upload Your Data
Use the Desktop app or Obsidian plugin to sync your files with Khoj.
Connect WhatsApp
Go to the Khoj Cloud Settings page and follow the instructions to link your WhatsApp account.
You need one of the desktop clients (Desktop app, Obsidian, or Emacs) to share and sync your data with Khoj before using it via WhatsApp.

- Check your internet connection
- Wait a moment - the bot might be processing your request
- Try sending a simple message like “hello”

This usually means:
- Your WhatsApp account isn’t connected to Khoj Cloud
- You haven’t uploaded any data to Khoj yet
- Connect your account via Khoj Settings
- Use the Desktop app or Obsidian plugin to sync your data
- Try the

Usage limit reached
Usage limit reached
You’ve hit your daily quota. Options:
- Wait until tomorrow when limits reset
- Upgrade to a paid plan
- Use the web client or other clients for unlimited access
Image generation not working
Image generation not working
Possible reasons:
- Daily image generation limit reached
- Prompt violates content policy
- Temporary service issue
- Rephrasing your prompt
- Checking your usage limits
- Trying again later
Privacy and Security
Message Privacy
Messages are encrypted in transit between WhatsApp and Khoj’s servers.
Data Usage
Your queries are processed to provide responses but are not used for training AI models without consent.
Account Linking
Linking your WhatsApp to Khoj Cloud allows the bot to access your personal knowledge base securely.
