Study instances are your personal progress trackers for study plans. Each instance represents your journey through a specific study plan with deadline tracking and resource completion status.

What is a Study Instance?

A study instance is a personalized copy of a study plan that tracks:
  • Which resources you’ve completed
  • Your overall progress percentage
  • Time spent and time remaining
  • Personal notes for each resource
  • Target completion date
You can create multiple instances of the same study plan (for example, if you’re retaking a course).

Tracking Your Progress

  • Based on number of resources completed (not time)

Dashboard Overview

Your dashboard shows:
  • Continue Learning: Your most recently accessed instance
  • Upcoming Deadlines: Instances with approaching due dates
  • Your Courses: Grid of all active instances with progress

Completion Tracking

Mark resources complete as you finish them:
  1. Complete the resource (watch video, read article, etc.)
  2. Click Mark Complete button
  3. The resource gets a green checkmark
  4. Progress percentage updates automatically
  5. Completed resources show in strikethrough in the playlist

Open Notes Panel

Click the yellow sticky note icon or Take Notes button for any resource.
2

Write Your Notes

Type your thoughts, key takeaways, or questions in the text area.
3

Managing Multiple Instances

Viewing All Instances

From the dashboard or instances page, you can:
  • See all your active study instances
  • Filter by course code
  • Sort by progress, deadline, or last accessed
  • Quickly resume any instance

Naming Instances

By default, instances use the study plan title. You can add a custom title to differentiate multiple instances of the same plan (for example, “CSE101 - Midterm Prep” vs “CSE101 - Final Review”).

Best Practices

Set Realistic Deadlines: Consider the total time estimate and your daily availability. It’s better to finish early than to feel rushed.
Daily Study Habit: Access your instance daily, even for just 15-30 minutes. Consistent progress is key.
Use Notes Effectively: Write notes as you go, not later. Capture key insights, questions, and connections to other topics.
Mark Complete Honestly: Only mark resources complete when you truly understand them. You can always uncheck and review again.

Completing an Instance

When you mark the final resource as complete:
  • A congratulations message appears
  • Your progress shows 100%
  • The instance remains accessible for review
  • You can still access all notes and resources
Congratulations on completing your study plan! You can start a new instance anytime to refresh your knowledge.
