Special biomes in Origen override the normal biome distribution system, allowing them to generate in unexpected locations with specific conditions.

Special Biome Types

Currently disabled in the latest version.
Sinkholes can be found anywhere in the world, ignoring the usual biome cell spawns. However, they are quite rare. They reach down to Y -40 and have steep cliffs and are usually stretched at an angle.Generation:
  • Can spawn anywhere in the world
  • Ignores normal cellular biome distribution
  • Very rare occurrence rate
  • Reaches down to Y -40
  • Features steep cliff walls
  • Usually stretched at an angle

Sinkhole Variants

There are currently 3 sinkhole variations:Jungle Sinkhole
  • Warm surface environment
  • Big jungle trees covering the bottom
  • Lush vegetation throughout
Forest Sinkhole
  • Mossy stone walls
  • Diverse mix of tree types
  • Covers the bottom of the sinkhole
Frozen Sinkhole
  • Cold climate variant
  • Snowy surface covering
  • Ice spikes on the floor

Special Generation Mechanics

Unlike regular biomes that follow the cellular noise distribution system, special biomes use independent generation rules:
  • Independent Spawning - Not tied to biome cells or continental values
  • Rarity Control - Spawn frequency controlled separately from other biomes
  • Override Behavior - Can replace or modify existing biomes
  • Unique Placement - May have specific terrain or location requirements
Special biomes are designed to create rare and memorable discoveries during exploration, adding elements of surprise to world generation.

Future Special Biomes

More special biomes are planned for future updates, each with unique generation mechanics and distinctive features.
