You can select multiple moods! Combine “Excited + Curious” for action-mystery anime, or “Relaxed + Romantic” for gentle love stories.

  • Genres: Select specific genres to include

  • Score Range: Set minimum/maximum MAL scores (1-10)

90-100%: Perfect match
  • All or most genres align with your mood
  • Meets all filter criteria
  • High MAL score (if prioritized)
70-89%: Great match
  • Strong genre overlap
  • Meets most filter criteria
  • Good MAL score
50-69%: Good match
  • Some genre overlap
  • Partially meets filters
  • Acceptable score
Below 50%: Okay match
  • Minimal genre alignment
  • May not meet some filters
  • Lower score or popularity

Genre Selection

Refine mood recommendations with specific genres:
Action, Adventure, Comedy, Drama, Fantasy, Horror, Mystery,  
Romance, Sci-Fi, Slice of Life, Sports, Supernatural, Thriller...

Genres combine with moods. Example: “Excited” mood + “Mecha” genre = action mecha anime.

Type Filter

Narrow by format:
  • TV: Standard TV series (12-24 episodes)
  • Movie: Anime films (1-3 hours)
  • OVA: Original Video Animation (special episodes)
  • ONA: Online-exclusive releases
  • Special: One-off specials or extras
Select “Movie” when you want a complete story in one sitting.

Score Range

Set minimum/maximum MAL scores:

Set minimum to 7.0+ for consistently good recommendations. Lower it to 5.0 for more variety and hidden gems.

Year Range

Filter by release year:

Prioritize Highly Rated

Enabled: Weight toward high MAL scores Disabled: Equal weighting regardless of score

Each top pick includes a generated explanation:
