Itinerary overview

The Itinerary page combines a visual calendar with detailed item management.

Page layout

  • Header - Shows trip duration, date range, timezone, and save controls
  • Toolbar - Quick actions for adding items, exporting events, and filtering
  • Calendar - Month, week, day, or agenda view with drag-and-drop
  • Item list - All itinerary items with edit and delete options
The itinerary uses your trip’s inferred timezone. All times are displayed in local destination time.

Add itinerary items

Quick add from calendar

Click any empty slot on the calendar:
  1. TripLoom opens the item dialog pre-filled with:
    • Day - Inferred from the calendar date you clicked
    • Time block - Morning, afternoon, or evening based on the hour
    • Start/End times - Default window for that time block
  2. Enter title and location (both required)
  3. Adjust times, category, and other fields as needed
  4. Click Add item

Manual add

Use the + Add Item button for more control:
1

Open dialog

Click + Add Item in the toolbar. The item form appears.
2

Enter required fields

  • Title - Activity or event name (e.g., “Berlin Core Sights”)
  • Location - Where this takes place (e.g., “Berlin, Germany”)
3

Set timing

  • Day - Select from dropdown (Day 1, Day 2, etc.)
  • Time block - Choose Start Of Day, Midday Focus, or Evening Wind-Down
  • Start time - Exact start time (datetime picker)
  • End time - Exact end time (must be after start)
4

Choose category and status

  • Status - Planned, To Do, or Finished
  • Category - Select from 10 categories (see Categories section)
5

Add optional details

  • Location Link - Website URL for venue/activity
  • Google Maps Link - Direct link to location
  • Commuting Details - Transit info (e.g., “ICE 726, 07:42 to 11:02”)
  • Notes - Tickets, queue tips, reminders
6

Save

Click Add item. The event appears on the calendar and in the item list.
Start and end times determine the day and time block automatically. If you set times that span midnight, TripLoom assigns the item to the day containing the start time.

Itinerary categories

Choose from 10 color-coded categories:
  • Outbound Flight - Departure flights (blue)
  • Inbound Flight - Return flights (cyan)
  • Commute - Local transportation (sky blue)
  • Activities - Tours, experiences, events (emerald green)
  • Games - Sports, entertainment (violet)
  • Food - Restaurants, cafes, markets (amber)
  • Sightseeing - Landmarks, museums (rose)
  • Shopping - Stores, malls (fuchsia)
  • Rest - Downtime, hotel, relaxation (slate gray)
  • Other - Anything else (zinc gray)
Categories help you visualize your day’s balance at a glance in the calendar.

Status tracking

Track progress with three status levels:
  • Planned - Tentative or unconfirmed activity
  • To Do - Confirmed, needs completion
  • Finished - Completed during the trip
Filter the calendar by status using the buttons in the toolbar:
  • All - Show every item
  • Planned - Show only planned items
  • To Do - Show only to-do items
  • Finished - Show only finished items
Use status filters to focus on what’s next. During your trip, switch to “To Do” view to see today’s confirmed activities.

Calendar views

Switch between four calendar layouts:

Month view

  • Overview of the entire trip
  • See all events across weeks
  • Best for high-level planning

Week view

  • Hourly breakdown of 7 days
  • Drag and resize events
  • Default view for most trips

Day view

  • Single day with hour-by-hour detail
  • Ideal for mobile devices
  • Automatic mobile fallback (screens < 768px)

Agenda view

  • List format sorted chronologically
  • No drag-and-drop (use for review only)
  • Shows start/end times in table rows
Your view preference saves to the URL query parameter. Refresh the page and you’ll return to the same view.

Drag and drop scheduling

Reorganize your itinerary visually (Month, Week, Day views only):

Move an event

  1. Click and hold an event block
  2. Drag to a new time slot
  3. Release to drop
  4. TripLoom updates:
    • Start and end times
    • Day index
    • Time block

Resize an event

  1. Hover over the bottom edge of an event
  2. Drag the edge up or down
  3. Release when the duration is correct
  4. End time updates automatically
Drag-and-drop changes are immediate but not saved until you click Save Changes. You can drag multiple items, then save all at once or click Discard to undo.

Edit and delete items

Edit an item

Click an event block in the calendar to open the edit dialog.
The edit dialog pre-fills all fields. Make changes and click Update item.

Delete an item

  1. In the Current Items list, click Delete (trash icon)
  2. The item removes from the calendar and list immediately
  3. Click Save Changes to persist the deletion, or Discard to restore it
Deletions are part of the draft state. You must click Save Changes to permanently remove items. If you discard changes, deleted items reappear.

Save and discard changes

Itinerary edits work in draft mode:
  1. Add, edit, move, or delete items
  2. The Unsaved changes badge appears in the header
  3. Click Save Changes to persist all edits
  4. Or click Discard to revert to the last saved state
Validation on save:
  • Title and location must not be empty
  • Day index must be within trip range (1 to total days)
  • End time must be after start time
If validation fails, an error toast appears and changes are not saved.

Export to Google Calendar

Share your itinerary with your personal calendar:

Export all events

1

Click export

Click Export All Events in the toolbar.
2

Approve popups

TripLoom opens one browser tab per event. Each tab loads the Google Calendar “Add Event” form pre-filled with:
  • Event title
  • Location
  • Start and end times (converted to your local timezone)
  • Description (notes, commute details, links)
3

Confirm each event

In each tab, review the details and click Save in Google Calendar.
Export opens all events simultaneously with a 280ms delay between tabs. If your browser blocks popups, use the Copy Event Links button instead.
For popup blockers:
  1. Click Copy Event Links
  2. A dialog appears with one link per event
  3. Click Open or Copy for each link
  4. Paste links into your browser to open the Google Calendar form
Export works best with 10 or fewer events. For larger itineraries, export day-by-day using the Day view filter.

View current items

The Current Items section lists all itinerary entries:
  • Title - Activity name
  • Location - Where it takes place
  • Times - Start and end in YYYY-MM-DDTHH:MM format
  • Status - Badge showing Planned/To Do/Finished
  • Actions - Edit and Delete buttons
Items sort by:
  1. Day index (ascending)
  2. Time block (morning → afternoon → evening)
  3. Sort order (auto-assigned)
This ensures your list matches the chronological flow of your trip.
