Your trip appears immediately in your dashboard. All changes save automatically as you work.

Set trip basics

Once created, configure your core trip details from the Overview page.

Edit trip details

  1. Navigate to Overview in your trip sidebar
  2. Click Edit Trip to open the trip editor
  3. Update any field:
    • Destination name
    • Start date (YYYY-MM-DD format)
    • End date (must be on or after start date)
    • Number of travelers (minimum 1)
Changing dates recalculates your total trip days. This affects itinerary planning and budget pacing.

Track progress

The Overview page shows your completion status across seven planning stages:
  • Trip Basics - Destination, dates, travelers
  • Flights - Outbound and return flight selection
  • Hotels - Accommodation booking
  • Itinerary - Day-by-day activity planning
  • Transit - Local transportation
  • Finance - Budget and expense tracking
  • Ready - All essential items complete
Your progress bar updates automatically as you complete each section.

Follow the guided workflow

TripLoom’s “Next Best Action” card guides you through planning in optimal order.

Understanding recommendations

The system analyzes what you’ve completed and suggests your next step:
  • Title - Clear action to take next
  • Description - Why this step matters now
  • Recommendations - Specific suggestions (up to 3 bullets)
  • CTA button - Direct link to the relevant page
The recommended path prioritizes critical booking tasks first (flights, hotels), then moves to detailed planning (itinerary, finance).

Check what’s missing

The “What’s Missing” card on Overview lists incomplete essential items:
  • Flight selection (outbound or return)
  • Hotel booking
  • Itinerary days not yet planned
  • Budget not set
  • Major expenses not tracked
Once all essential items are complete, you’ll see a confirmation message with a checkmark icon.

Monitor recent activity

The “What Changed” section shows your most recent actions across all trip pages. Use this to:
  • Verify recent edits saved correctly
  • See what collaborators changed
  • Track progress over multiple sessions

Quick summary cards

Overview displays four summary cards for at-a-glance status:
Shows flight selection status and route summary (e.g., “YYZ → LHR, LHR → YYZ”).

Share and collaborate

From the Overview page, use the top action buttons:
  • Share - Generate a shareable link for view-only access
  • Invite - Send edit invitations to co-travelers
Group features unlock automatically when you set travelers > 1 or enable group mode in Finance settings.

Complete your trip

Work through each section in the sidebar:
  1. Flights - Search and save flight options
  2. Hotels - Find and track accommodation
  3. Itinerary - Build day-by-day plans
  4. Transit - Research local transportation
  5. Finance - Set budget and track expenses
  6. Group - Manage members and approvals (if applicable)
  7. Docs - Store confirmations and documents
When your progress reaches 100%, all essential planning is complete and you’re ready to travel.
